2008 Thrux pics
Many of you have probably already seen this from the 2008 brochure, but it was new to me this evening, so I thought I'd share.
So, different triple clamp, higher/straighter bars, looks like bar end mirrors standard, and "Oh Yeah, Fuel Injection!"
Not quite sure how the whole "fake carburetors" thing works. Do you think the really went out and had dummy carbs made?

No, i hadn't seen that yet - thanks for posting. So looks like the killer clip-ons are a little less killer. interesting mirrors - they sort of look like napoleons but somethings different. That guy's riding gear looks a little strange, though.

definitely different
I don't know what I think of these new bars - I'll have to see them in the flesh. I welcome the loss of the tupperware container (plastic brake fluid reservior).

Roger that. Anyone got close-ups of those empty carbs? Leave the dieting to Slimfast!

I agree - I just saw these new specs yesterday on the UK Triumph site ( www.triumph.co.uk/uk)... It seems that a lot of the things that set the Thruxton apart from the Bonnevilles are being lost. The Thruxton was already just a Bonneville with different wheels and a few different parts bolted on, but now they are more similar than ever before (maybe to cut costs?). All the engines are now the same. As ugly as the old plastic reservoir was, at least you could replace the cap or replace the whole thing with a Rizoma if you wanted to. Now that option is gone. It looks like a Bonneville reservoir. I wonder if they put 1" bars on these new Thruxtons so that they could use all the same controls as the Bonnevilles, or are they still 7/8"? I don't like the new bars, but I am a fan of clip-on bars anyways. They could have at least made the new bars black. The tubes that hold the headlight brackets are longer now, since there are no clip on bars under the top clamp. That means they will need to be cut down if you want to put clip-on bars under the top clamp. I think this whole new handlebar setup looks a lot less sporty than last year. Also, they are not currently listing any higher horsepower specification for the 2008 fuel injected version.

I just went and took a look at the new 08 gallery and it would seem at least from this pic, the thrux still has clipons. From the 360 walkaround it (sadly) shows the bars.

Not a big fan of those bars at all. Really love my clip-ons. But I am most fascinated by this whole fake carb thing. Anybody got any better quality pic of the carbs than these, which are just low quality blow ups from the walk around and one of the smaller pics?
