This explains the fake carb thing. I don't think I like the '08.

So the fake carbs are actually carb shaped throttle bodies.

Also noticed there's no longer a fuel petcock.

Many of the things I love about my '06, clip-ons, riding position, carbs, petcock (makes it more retro, like my old 1971 CB350), front brake reservoir, made in England; are all missing on the '08. Kinda not the same motorcycle.

As an '04 Thrux owner, I have to say a big thumbs down on the '08 model. So sad, too. Not saying change is a bad thing, but if I was in the market now I don't think I'd give it much of a look. Best of luck to Triumph............

The new colors look cool. At least they're (Triumph) trying to appeal to what they think people want (mirrors, bars, and such).

Red w/white stripes (shown)
Black w/gold stripes
Chromium (looks kinda light silver blue in the pic) w/red stripes

I'm really glad I picked up an '07 when I did. It will be interesting to see what people are saying about the new bikes in 6 months.

I would assume they will probably ride, handle and perform fine. Probably have slightly better engine performance under different conditions than the carbureted bikes. But a big part of my decision to spend the money on the Thruxton as opposed to the latest CBR, ZXR, GXR, YZR, was the nostalgia, the look, and the "quaintness" factor. The "old" ones (pre-2008) had that Made in Hinckley, carbureted, old fashioned petcock, real clip-ons, 1960's hot rod sense to them. The 2008 models seem to lack that.

Waxing Nostalgic,
-Tim

I guess im in the minority, I like the 08 thrux. I think the bars (Im tall) will make for a more comfortable ride (not sure how they compare to heli bars or the BC bars) and less pain on the wrists. I think w/ the overall change to FI, the bikes will run cleaner, easier in the cold and no adjustments.

I would have liked to see a green thrux. At least triumph took my advice when I suggested a green/white bonne,
