And is on the water.
Just got the email from Triumph a few minutes ago. Anyone else get this?
This is a bit earlier than expected.

I have used cedar fence posts for sale.
Also do odd jobs.
Spring window/gutter cleaning special. Or I can walk your dog, be a companion for your Granny, whatever, no job too small.

The email has a big red button for CUSTOMIZE NOW. Seems an awkward thing to customize while on the water in a crate, but that's the power of plastic$.

I sold literally everything I had that was of any value... Like all my guitars, my race quad, my car, my BMX bike from when I was a kid that I swore I would keep forever... It's almost depressing!

What color did you order? (I order black, and it showed an Ice Silver Thruxton in my picture.)

hey, I just got the same email today at 1:32pm EST. Looks like we'll be riding soon! :)

too bad they don't give you a tracking number...

funny about the customize button. If I change the color I wonder if the original order goes to someone else.

don't want to chance it so I'm keeping away from that button. Besides the ice silver is nice.

I'm sure the dealer will be contacting me soon to finalize payment and accessories.

cool.

Silver in the image.
Also, some of the accessory pricing in the email configurator is better than previous pricing. I called the Triumph service number to find out if they have sent me the Canadian configurator or the US one. The rep did not know the answer.
His info shows the US price of the fairing kit at 950, Bike bandit show it at 900 and the email configurator shows it at 812.50.

He informed me that the race kit added 8 HP at the rear wheel. He said he attended a Triumph workshop on the new bikes in November and was shown the relative rear wheel dyno charts for the standard Thruxton and with race kit fitted. He claimed that the race kit dropped a tiny bit in the midrange but added the 8 at top giving just over 100 HPRWHP while stock showed 92RWHP
The 92 seems too high given that crank is 97.
Lots of verbal Dyno BS as usual, will wait for an actual chart from Triumph showing the comparitive effect before committing to the race kit, which must be ordered in separate bits in North America.

I'm on a boat

Sounds like a self-actualized, talking bike is on its way to me !

It say's 'I'm on a boat' and unfortunately I have to say 'I'm on a fence'.

If the bike's power and lack of engine braking at all resembles the T120 I rode Saturday, it will probably become somebody else's bike.

If I actually love the ride anywhere near the amount I love the look, then we'll have some trouble... If I really, really love it and the bank looks favorably upon me, I'll ride it home - but I'm not confident either of those things will come to pass.

Truth is, when the advert came out asking me to schedule a test ride, I signed right up. The next morning my salesman was on the phone practically begging me to put a deposit on the bike, assuring me it would be fully refundable and sure would help them 'get their numbers up' - So I did.

It's a gorgeous bike, that's for sure - but it may be too rich for me. I can't loose, like it or not, as I'm deeply in love with my Streety so we'll see.

Oh, the email showed a silver bike - the one I ordered is red.

sold a Honda Sabre (thank God) and now pushing to get rid of my wife's HD sportster 883 and a Suzuki 250cc that's been laying around for some time. :)

she wants a Street Twin anyway so it shouldn't be much of a fight.

$900 is pretty good. Sold mine to friend for $100 so his kid could ride it after his boy left his old Ozone out in the rain for a weekend. Had a PK for a bit. Head tube angle was a little weird though. i hope you took pictures. I don't think you'll miss them too much. You have a great substitute!

Some bmx collector guy from NYC bought them... I had so many memories with that thing... I feel like I did something wrong when I sold it... It was weird, lol... Yup, I have pictures of it... I'll attach one here if I find it...

But like you said... I'll have something to make way more memories on now... Probably be memories all by myself, but still good ones... And this thing will be much more Photo genic I think :)

Cheers

so, I can finally sleep knowing that my bike is safely on its way.

I know a guy, who knew a guy, that knows a guy, that knew someone high up in the British Armed Forces. I was able to not only track down the cargo ship my bike was on but arranged for the Royal Navy to escort the ship safely to its destination. As I am typing this message, the HMS Borat is currently escorting the cargo ship carrying my Thruxton R (located in the blue container above the letter "D") and will notify me once it has docked. :)

Mine is probably in there too, since I live near you and mine is going to a neighboring dealership.
Thanks Borat! (ha!)

And thanks to the crate with the Letter 'D' !!! (Guess that's the letter of the day then!)

Just curious... Since they come from Thailand (right?)... I assume that they travel the Pacific (Shorter distance with the current?) to California somewhere? (For United States/Canada customers.) If that were the case, then I would guess that it would be closer to two weeks than 3 weeks for landfall, right?

Anyone know?

that's a pretty cool site. how long would it take for a ship to travel from Thailand to NY? I assume it would dock somewhere in NY, or would it dock somewhere else and be trucked to NY? anyone know?

31 DAYS?????

that brings me into May!! I have to wait one more month to play with my new toy???

I need to figure out a way to transfer my container to the Royal Navy's ship. I'm sure their boat is much faster!!

#25 ·
I feel like I could make that journey faster myself, with just some flippers, a snorkel... And like 6 'Swimmies' (those things kids put on their arms to float) to put all over the bike... And a Red-Bull.

It may be less than a month, because like someone else said, we don't know when it actually set sail on the ship... Also, we don't know if it took the shorter rout to California, or the eight year voyage around the world the other way.

A couple of problems with that idea.
With the direct exposure to salt water the bike will look much like an R9 t about half way across. By the time you reach dock, you'll be towing something that looks exactly like a Yam XSR900. This bike is ugly enough to keep the sharks away, but it might confuse the Triumph mechanics when you bring it in for warranty work, which it will need right away.

breaking news. Cargo ship is under assault by some German vessel. They can only make out the letters "BM"something in its name.
Royal Navy is now returning fire.

obviously it's a quiet day in the office today... :)
