I've been admiring cafetbird's fender bob, taillight and paint job. Very nice!

Thanks, Hyzer. I have been thinking about going more radical on the rear though. Do you know that many people look at it and don't realize that it is custom (save for the seat cowl)?

T-Bird w/ Cowl

It would mean removal and modification of the turn signal indicators and bosses. I really like those bosses from the early T-Birds!

Right now, I am mounting a TBS front end, and have been contemplating going with silver on the fenders and side covers now.... think that would clash? Do you think it would make my butt look big? HA HA..... :-D :-D

I just got the single seat with cowl for christmas.

I guess I got pretty lucky because I didnt have to modify it at all. It just clicked right in. I should probably shim the rubber bumpers a little.

I want to bob the rear fender also. I think I will probably need a new taillight as well. I don't mind the look of the stock taillight, but it will probably look pretty big on a shortened fender.

You can sort of see my shortened front and rear turn signals in this pic also. The rear turn signals have the posts removed and are bolted straight to the bracket. The fron turn signals are on custom posts so they only stick out 1.125" They are nice and tight around the fly screen.

Wabbit..aren't you a tallish guy? I am 6'1" and am wondering about putting the lower Tbird bars on my bike or even Speed Triple bars. Without moving your footpegs back are you in an awkward position now or do you plan to put rearsets on?

Thanks...

Tom

I am 6'2"

Its not too bad. I would recommend the speed triple bars. I bought some generic bars with a 2" rise and about 4" pull back. They are a little too straight for me.

The speed triple bars look like they have about another 1/2" rise and a little more pull back. (you need the extra rise so you dont hit the tank) I have realized that I need just a little more pullback so that my wrists will be in a better position.

As far as the pegs. I have found that it is more comfortable if I get up on the balls of my feet on the pegs rather than having my pegs in the arches of my feet. This is because it rotates your torso forward a little bit and makes the seat more comfortable.
I will put on either TBS rear sets or LSL when I find them/have money.

THe solo seat is definately a different feeling. You sit more in the bike rather than on top of it. At first it feels a little cramped with long legs, but once you get used to it, it is nice. Especially when going through corners it feels like you have more control of the bike. You can use your feet a lot more to add weighting/ counter weighting etc.

I am ordering a buttbuffer pad for it though. The solo seat is pretty hard. I have heard it is more comfortable with rear set pegs. After my first 250 miles on it (3 days after getting it) I felt like I was sitting in a plank of wood.

No worries Scot, your ass doesn't need any help on that. :-D

I like the treatment that Scot did and it looks a lot better with the Corbin seat he now has because it hugs the rear fender better. I'm considering doing something similar but wwith 98/99 TBS pipes.

00wabbit, you could probably just bob it back to TBS length, which looks fine with the stock taillight. One thing I noticed that the stock light is good for, besides flagging down passing UFOs, is holding your helmet; it sits on it nice and secure. Fitting TBS rear sets will be more trouble than just bolt on, ask Scot, there is a clearance issue with the headers and pipes. LSLs are the way to go my friend, but they are pretty high. I'm 5'8" and thought they were a little too much on my Legend, although the Legend's low seat height may have amplified the problem.

As far as the solo seat, just send it off to sargent to have them work their magic on.

One of the reasons I am thinking about going with silver (or possibly chrome?!?!) on the front and rear fender. It doesn't look quite right IMHO, because it doesn't blend that well. That is why I went (back) to the Corbin too - besides the fact that it is much more comfy on long rides.
I just picked up some early Daytona 3/4/2 pipes - may require some mods, but we will see how this works on the rear set issue! My rears are all polished up and ready to go. As some folks mentioned, I also kind of like having my feet underneath me. It is kind of nice to be able to take the load off my arse going over bumps. Wonder if rear set will end up putting the load on my oysters.... OY!!!

If/when I put the cowl back on - might need to see the Sargents guys too - anyone gotten a quote from them on a solo saddle?

Scot

I definitely like the look of the Bonnies and T-Birds that have the silver painted fenders. Reminds me of the old chromed fenders. That is a paint mod I’ve been considering.

That being said, I really like the look of Scot’s painted and striped rear fender – very café!

Scot – I did not know you went back to the Corbin solo, the TBS solo looks great with the painted and striped cowling. How did you find a TBS front end? Great find.

00wabbit – looks like you have TBS individual risers for your handlebar, not the standard T-Bird “dogbone.” How did you source those?

no. I have the standard dogbone that says Triumph on it. My tankbag is obscuring it.

This is what the Corbin looks like on Alec's bike.
