Triumph Gel Seat or Corbin
Longest ride yet on the Thruxton yesterday.....180 miles and my a$$ and balls were killing me. Any suggestions for an aftermarket seat that is good for the long haul?

I shaved my stock seat and added a gel pad inside the center of the seat foam. Also have a throw over gel pad for long trips. If I could do it all over again I would have just bought the Triumph Gel Seat. What a deal!!

Not the best curb appeal, but your butt will like it.

The gel seat is no different than a stock Thrux seat. I've own both. There's no difference. You'll be disappointed on your next 180 mile ride if you buy one thinking it's gonna be an improvement over stock. Personally, I can ride 300+ miles in a day on the stock Thrux seat (or gel) and have no problems, but maybe I have a bit of an iron butt.

The corbin is a what I refer to as a 'hard saddle' but it's designed to put you on the soft part of your arse when you sit. I've never ridden with one, just sat on it in a parking lot, but I know their owners usually love em.

I have corbin seats on all of my bikes. I understand the usual comment about them is that they are hard. I find that I can ride 500 mile days and my butt is the last thing to get my attention. The soft gel or stock seats have you on the seat pan. corbin seems to understand the purpose of foam and how it works.
Having sais all this, I also need to add that their customer service has gone down the toilet

I have a corbin on my thrux and love it - ride all day with no problems. I can ride all day on the stock Thrux seat too though (which is on my T100), but the stock bonneville seat that came on the T100 - now that is a true piece of juck and pain in the a$$.

I think I will be saving my $$ for a corbin. I believe a harder seat pan might do the trick. Kind of like the smuggler put a little steep hard on the wallet. Funny I can put hours on my skinny-a$$ bicycle seat and not feel a thing.

I bought a Corbin for my CBR and I couldn't stand it -- it was so high up front that every time I accelerated I slid back down the seat; I sent it back and they shaved down the front but it still didn't feel even close to right (plus the seat base didn't fit the bike very well). I've done about 25,000 miles on the stock seat and all of about 200 miles on the Corbin. If I had a choice again, I definitely would have saved the $300.

With the Thruxton, I thought my stock seat was breaking down at about 10,000 miles and replaced it with the Triumph gel seat. It feels about the same as the stock seeat, especially the shape, but is maybe a little firmer. It seems good enough for any ride (up to about 500 miles in a day) as long as I'm wearing leather or something good like a Roadcrafter (but certainly not in jeans). I'm not sure I would go with the Corbin for the Thrux.

does the thrux gel seat have the removable cowling to switch to two-up?

i'm looking for a good but not horribly expensive bonnie stock seat replacement--and the sixty8 seat + cowling will run me well over $300
