Day 1 and Day 2 with new bike.

It's official: there's a new Thruxton in town.

Got the 1st 85 miles on "Cisco", received my 1st obligatory hand waves from fellow bikers, got a good neck-breaking double-take from a couple 'B'-mer riders, and a 10 minute BS session outside the auto-parts store about a Trident a guy had as a boy. I'dn't life grand!!!

Here's Jeff, my salesman. He now wants one too. He couldn't resist asking for a trip around the block.

its true these bikes fetch way more attention than thier modern sport brothers, and witha few mods can perform as good too.

don't get me wrong, I love my thrux moreso than any of the recent modern day sportbikes I had. But tell me one true "sportbike" made over the past 10 years that a thruxton can perform as well as with a "few" mods. Suspension, motor everything is WAAAAY outclassed. Shoot my 1990 gixxer 750 (18 years old) out handles and out performs my '07 thrux...

to summarize, it's ok to love he thrux, but be real with that love...

Welcome to the club, it is a fun ride. I would agree that we can't really approach modern sportbike's performance envelope, but the Thrux is still sporting, and you can have a ball without having to get to triple digits on public roads. (one of the reasons I got one).

I call my Thrux an "old man's sportsbike".

Great bikes and fun stuff. You may be surprised how well these bikes do at a track day.
