I installed Brent's NARK this weekend and wanted to share what I learned--stuff I hadn't seen on any posts or in any instructions. I gotta say great product and a fairly easy install if you are patient (which I am typically not), and well worth the work (it screams). I wanted to share because projects on which I embark typically embody Murphy's Law--in other words, you won't have any problems I didn't already run into!!
First, the videos posted on the britironrebels.com website are great, as is the thread entitled "I am lazy and indecisive" on this site.
1. Overall, great product. Fit and finish were great. Runs great--I'm no expert, but I'd say the jets included are perfect.
2. Pick up a few small lock washers before starting. The master cylinder mount, for example, had none.
3. I needed to use some washers when mounting the fuse box as well.
4. The instructions said to use one of the spacers from the original airbox mounting screws behind the master cylinder screw. I think they've re-designed the tab onto which the cylinder mounts, so this is unnecessary, which is nice--leaves more threads on the screw.
5. I think everyone assumes everyone else knows how to rejet, but instructions on how to rejet would be cool--I had no idea and had to enlist the help of a buddy who had fortunately rejetted his dirt bike.
6. I didn't remove my mufflers during the process and they were not in the way.
With regard to the Brit Iron Rebels videos, which were awesome, a couple of comments:
1. I believe their holes and mounting brackets did not line up because they mounted the NARK's aft tab above the frame crossmember, rather than below it, as Brent's instructions say to do.
2. The airbox fits without disassembly if you jack up the bike farther (which Brent's instructions also state).
I give the product and the results a big
