Fork length for F3 mod forks

Hey guys,

To anyone who has done the mod, can anyone give the absolute fork length, fully extended, once the mod is done.

I've seen lots of reference to it being so much longer than the standard forks on a Thruxton, but I'm looking at doing it to a Scrambler, so my starting point may be different.

So, my question is, what is the length of a F3 modded fork, from axle centre to top of stanchion (ignoring the adjusters on the top of the fork)??

Thanks in advance folks,

Ian

I can't give you an exact on the entire length, but the F3 Tubes are, I believe, 1.375" longer than the Thrux. It's been 3 years since I've done it, but I know the number is very close. It's 1.3-something inches. If you look up Thruxtonone's threads he has listed the length. Hope this helps some.

Hi Thrux-ton-up,

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, without either:

1. The length of an original Thruxton fork
OR
2. The difference in length between a Thruxton fork and a Scrambler one

I'm still no closer to knowing how viable this option is!

Thanks anyway, man.

Any other offers???

just raise the tubes up in the triple clamp. Take a measurement when you start, and a measurement when you finish. Raise the tubes past the triple clamp whatever the distance is. I guess on a bike with standard bars it might be a problem.

OKcarburetor, not sure I understand your comments.

The Scrambler has longer forks than the Thruxton/Bonnie, I just don't know by how much.

If the Scrambler's are longer by more than 1.375", then the F3 mod would shorten the Scrambler's forks, which is undesirable.

Hence my asking.

Thoughts/comments welcome.

Ian

Hey OKC, no misunderstanding on that point, F3 mod forks are apparently longer than stock Thruxtons....

...but I'm starting with a Scrambler!

Scrambler's forks are also longer than a Thruxton, I'm just trying to work out by how much, so I can see if the F3 mod will work!

Seemed like a simple question to ask at the time, but with hindsight.... ;-)

Well, it's probably better than posting while really drunk!!!

Of course, maybe I should just get up off my a$$ and go to my local dealer with a tape measure!

Ian - I measure 31 and 3/8" from fork top (no adjusters) to axel center on an F3 modded fork - give or take a 1/16" or so.
