So i bought the mirrors and 1inch adapters to put on my 14 thruxton.
Adapters wouldnt fit, so i im drilling out handlebars to make them fit.
Ive gone through $50 in drill bits and so far have only been able to get one adapter halfway in. Am i doing something wrong here?
the stock bars seem to have some sort of sleeve in it that cant be removed causing adapter not to fit.
Anybody have similar problems?

Absolutely agree!!!

I have a 2013 Thruxton and had the exact same problems! There is a threaded "plug" (for lack of a better description) about a 1/2 inch inside the handlebars that don't allow the mirrors/adaptors to be inserted. At least that was the situation on my bike.

I ended up doing the same thing you are describing, i.e. Drilling out these "plugs" to allow space for the adapters to fit in. Tools were thrown, curses were uttered, and blood was drawn, but in the end, I did triumph. I don't think I spent that much money on tools, but I did ruin several drill bits in the process.

I might have been doing it wrong. But let's face it, after a certain point my stubborn pride was on the line and I was determined to complete it come H3LL or high water.

Two years later, I'm still pleased with my CRG mirrors.

Good luck!

You guys know they make an adapter that can be used with the threaded inserts right? You just need to drill the hole in them a bit larger and pick up two long countersunk bolts from your local hardware store.

Hey Kids!

I put Napoleons on my Bonnie with Thruxton Ace Bars (black). I just replaced the rubber expanding plug and bolt with an M6 x 1.00 50mm cap screw to hold them in. Works like a charm and looks "factory". The Napoleons look like Thruxton Mirrors but they are black. I'm sure this would work with other bar ends too!
