just got an email confirmation from mr. stern saying that he will be sending out my order tomorrow. should have some impressions by the end of next week, but so far everything with ds has been cool. he seems to always get back to you within 24 hours. i hope this stuff installs easily and makes a noticable difference since i'm currently over-stressed motorcycle wise due to the new tires that i just paid $400 for and that have turned my thrux into a truck and giving it tank slapper style wobble. my situation is posted here....

http://www.triumphrat.net/club-cafe/...ck-rims-2.html

check it out and let me know what i should do. thank you.

recieved my package from daniel stern 2 days ago and got it installed last night. the cibie lamp install went well. after completely disassembling the trim ring and chassis around the lamp everything went back together just as if it were the stock unit. i plugged the the osram bulb into my new lamp/reflector unit and put the whole thing back into the bucket, 30 minutes. i'm an idiot and it was no sweat. definitely brighter but hard to measure, no doubt worth the approx. $100.
i have one question to you fellas though. in the old setup there is another smaller bulb and wire and in my new one there is not. i still have regular and high beam on my new cibie setup. when i had my stock arrangement and i flipped from high to low this smaller auxiliary bulb wouldn't light up then either. what was it for? the only thing i can think of is for the "pass" switch but i'm not going to bother to put it back together the old way just to test my theory. ANYONE KNOW?
anyway, dealing with mr. stern was a pleasure. he sounds very capable of handling whatever you throw at him and doesn't mince words when telling you what you need to buy for the results you are trying to achieve.

The little light is for when the key is in the "park" position (all the way to the left?). Basically it's for when you're parked on the side of the highway and you want people to see you but you don't want to drain the battery too rapidly.

Believe I had to cut wires and put on connectors because the little light in the replacement reflector used a different socket than the old one. Or you could just leave it disconnected -- pretty sure I've never used that little light anyway.

the smaller bulb was powered by a little clip connecter. should i wrap some tape around the end of the clip? i won't have a short or anything funky with the system now will i? i don't care about losing the feature, i was aware that i had it but i never used it. definitely rather have more light than a feature i haven't used in 7300 miles since new.
the new unit does not have a hole in the reflector to accomodate the little parking light....oh well.

Yep just wrap some electrical tape around the connector (ensuring it can't short against the headlamp shell) and you should be good to go.

Hey mate...what did you use to get those metal clips off that hold in the lamp....just a pair of long nose pliers to expand the clip and pull out or another method. Just curios as I just put in a new bulb on the weekend, saw em and wondered what the best method would be.

Just asking as I'm in discussion with Mr Stern at the moment...

Cheers.

hello keanhi,
if your talking about the the clip that holds the light bulb into the stock lens/reflector unit i would just use some needlenose pliers and bend it down under the retaining hook that holds it in place. i was using an aftermarket lamp from cibie and the retainer clip that holds the bulb in it didn't need any tools.
