Filling up the stock Thrux's tank every 100mi. is getting a little old. I'm open for suggestions on a new one. Any help with size, how many miles before re-fill, pics, and where to score one, would be most appreciated.

The good aftermarket stuff is $800 to $1220 and usually require a seat change out, $$$$$.
Why not find a local Metal Smith to section your tank and make it about two to three inches wider. That would add a half gallon or more to the fuel cell and retain the stock look :-D
This has been done before. Would probably cost the same as and after market unit, but would look OEM, have the OEM tank logo and give you another 45 to 65 mile range. And as an added bonus, drum roll please, The stock seat configuration would fit with no problems. Ta daaaa.
Buy a used tank form a wrecker and go for it. That way you will not loose your ride for long.

Good idea. My biggest problem is I live so deep in the country here on the banks of the SWOLLEN San Bernard river, [55mi sw of Houston] the hoot owls rape the chickens! There isn't a whole lot of fabbers out here but none the less its still workable. Since I ride daily I was hoping for after market, but at those prices, I don't know I'll probably have to be down for a few weeks..........anyone else have anything?
Thanks Spyder!

Install a Dynojet kit and open up your exhaust.....I just did and my mileage went up by nearly 25 percent. If you went up to a 19T gbx. sprocket, you could see another 3 to 5 percent.
I have posted the very minimal things I did, keeping most of the stock parts and just modding them. The cost of the kit is only about 85 bucks and most of the rest of it was accomplished with a drill.

Did that mecchanica. I've got Preds, Nology wires, coil and Iridium plugs, AI and airpump are gone and I'm running140 on mains, pilot is 42 with 2.5 turns out on my idle. I'm getting 32 miles per gallon. As soon as I can get some time off I'll take her back for a tune up. Before I went down this road I got 140 mi. with reserve. Still short but livable. Now I better look for a gas station around 100mi or I'd be pushin' her down the road and around here the stations are few and FAR between!

Any suggestions on where to score an extra or salvage Thrux tank?
I've been itching to repaint my tank but am a stickler for keeping the stock parts.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I like the rectangular look of the Norton, just need to see how far back that would push the seat.
I want to go to a solo seat anyway, which will require a new cowl fab. So I've been holding off until I see a tank I'd like to try.
