Well, WELL done! Excellent treatment on the "gate" badges too. Perfect for the bike. Any plans to black out the upper fork shrouds? I have the boots too and feel like I either want to black out the upper to finish it...or strip/polish the lowers.

Nice looking bike. I was thinking about doing the 'black-out' treatment to my Thrux as well. That's a definite after seeing how yours turned out.

Very nice! I like the black on silver. All you are missing is the black rims now! SWA-EET! :upthumb:

Black out the shrouds? Well, yeah, sure I haven't thought of that. and rims? That's a definite. In the near future I'm going for wider Excel rims in black for wider Michelin Pilot tires, but I'm gonna leave the brushed look on the spokes and hubs.

man, if you black rims you gotta go black hubs too. it just looks weird/unfinished w/ black rims and aluminum hubs.

Is that a stock front fender cut back or an aftermarket piece? Very nice work.

michaelj,

That is the stock fender. I cut it down both fore and aft of the fork. I traced a straight line with a ruler; then I traced a pint glass to round out the corners. I eyeballed the length I took off. I prob took an extra 1.5" off the front. I used a hacksaw to cut out the rough shape, then used several grades of sandpaper and sanding block to smooth it out until it looked nice and clean.

Then rattle can that piece flat black of course!
