Hi all,

Just thought I'd say hello

loved the new Thruxton when they were released at the motorcycle show a few years back. I could never afford to run two bikes BUT! when my zx12 ninja got squashed and totalled by a reversing d*** head while it was parked I had the opportunity to look for a new bike.
Straight down to the local Triumph dealer to test ride a Thruxton. Ended up with a great deal on a 06 black model got him to throw in Tor's, AI removal and bar end mirror's so I'm quite happy, down 100hp on the kwaka but what a fun bike to ride with a great range of usable power.

Any tips on running the beasty in?

Cheer's
Rob

Vary your throttle speed at all times for the first 1000 miles. That means never run at a steady speed. Stay away from red line too. I know that will be hard to do, but this technique will seat the rings for sure. :-D

Steve, gears an 11B40 away

Hope you have many happy miles on your new thrux. What Steve said, plus don't lug it down. Also don't put full synthetic in until it is broken in.

Good choice, and welcome to the club! That is quite a switch from a zx12, but you'll live longer for it... he he.
I was pretty gentle with mine for the first 500 miles, but after that I uncorked it fairly regularly - couldn't resist. The engine is still quiet after 12k. The twin engines seem to be relatively bullet proof, but don't go drag racing yet  give her a chance to fall together. And get rid of the air injection soon if you don't want the head pipes thouroughly blued.

Thanks for the welcome and advice.

I found this site after I bought the Thrux what a find!
I had no idea there was so much after market gear you can buy and so many mod's you can do yourself. Had a good talk with the fellow at Ikon today I think I'll make the old/young girl handle. Sounds like the 7614 rears and a set of progressive front springs will do the trick need to have some preload for when the wife jumps on the back its going to be hard to keep her of this bike! I may have to tell her I need to do 5k solo as instructed by Triumph before I can pillion :upthumb:

Kind regards
Rob
