Is there an available replacement headlight, either an insert to fit the stock bucket, or a full-replacement unit, that will give these bikes better night lighting? My ideal would be a HID insert. TIA

you can go to a local autoparts place and pick up any round 7" sealed beam lamp.

The only riding I do at night is in the city so it doesn't do a whole lot for me. Although I have thought of cutting up the stock lamp and mounting two 50mm hella projector pods.

I was thinking something along these lines. I checked PIAA's website, but did not see this so I assume it's custom.

How would one install 50mm hella pods? I ask because I was thinking that a bullet or manx fairing would look cool, with small, unobtrusive lights mounted under it.

Mancha, the idea is to take the stock lamp out(or use any other 7" lamp you feel like cutting up) and cut the backing up. Then make a bracket for the pods. There would of course be some wiring going on.

the pods are here

they have 90mm as well but i don't think i could stuff them in there.

I would have tried it by now, but i need to get the suspension on this thing sorted first.

I was thinking something more like this, mounted underneath a manx fairing:
