Hi all
Decided to keep my thruxton, didnt get any real offers and now find I cant let it go!!
Now want to get some nice exhaust pipes. Ive tried the cheap ones from Megaphone exhausts through Speciality Spares type but were crappy quality and were much too loud.
Would like a nice exhaust note with some bark without being too offensive. As a classic car buff ( hence the name Healey) I like a deep burble like a well tuned MGB or Austin Healey 100 or 3000.
Any feedback or rating on the tone on all three , Madaz, TOR's and staintunes, would be appreciated. Or even where I could get a some for a good price!
As for predators, would be too expensive to get shipped to Australia.
Couldnt let one of my toys go....

cheers

Healy 100,

Is there any better colour for a Thruxton than Racing Yellow - I think not!

Mate I put a set of Staintunes on mine (Racing yellow as well in case you were left wondering!) and I'm very happy with the fit and finish as well as the sound. Not cheap, but then nothing that's good is.

Nice looking 'B' as well.

Cheers,

Russ

I've got the TORS on mine and while they're much better than stock I'll eventually go to Predators based on reviews I've read mp3s I've heard. The TORS upgrade the sound from that of a sewing machine at least.

A man to admire... a Thrux AND an MG...

I went the cheap way out and installed the emgo exhaust... doesn't quite sound like a classic MG or Healy... but sounds great to me...

If Predators are out of the question, then you should go with the Staintunes. Quality is great and has a nice growl (louder then TOR's) to them that shouldn't offend the neighbors.

Hi Healey 100

I have staintunes on my thruxton. I like them because they are loud when you twist it and mellow when cruzing.

My 2 cents about color is I would paint the bike to match the car. That would be awesome. Some people like yellow kit: :hihi:
Beautiful car. I sold my spitfire a few years ago. I never really drove it that much but when I did I did enjoy it.

Healy,

I have was lucky enough to hear both TOR and Staintunes on Thruxtons in the showroom at Peter Stevens in Melbourne....where I have my new 07 Thruxton waiting.

I went for Predators - which are in the post as I type. When you say Predators are too expensive shipped from LA, Shean at BC charged me US$70 shipping fully insured [the tracking code says they're at about 30,000ft and will touch down today in Melbourne

Peter Stevens wanted over $1000 for Staintunes, so that made the Predators a much better deal.

I dug a bit deeper and upped my order to the BC basic performance kit all up cost to my door for Au$1246.80

I admit that the two show room Thruxtons weren't reved much, but both TORs and Staintunes had a very 'rounded' burble...I am hoping for a bit more of a 'bark' with Predators.

Cheers,

Chalawah

Madaz are excellent quality full stainless steel system a deeper grumble than Staintune .They growl on the open road and purr in town.they are a head turner without being aggressively loud (and police magnet)

Chalawah,

You're gonna love the predators with the BC performance kit. I'd never wrenched much before, but everything was pretty much a bolt-on affair. Sean and the crew at BC have really a great service aptitiude. I like "bark" that the Predators make and everything works well together. I haven't dyno'd yet, but can tell by my butt dyno that it seems to get up quicker. I just love to blip the throttle and hear that awesome twin sound! No more sewing machine! Woohaa!!!
