Hey all, its time for me to choose an airbox elimination kit to go with the predator pipes im running. I heard theres a few on the market so wanted some opinions on which to go with. I see bellacourse does a kit, but include some no name oval filters not the k&n's that Brit customs supplies ? and that some utilize the remaining space for storage ? any ideas ??

I agree with cafecruzin. Jenks Bolt's airbox elimination kit will have much better weather and road debris protection as well as a usable tool storage box; something all other kits are lacking.

If it was me and I had it to do over again I wouldnt buy a kit, I'd just hack up the existing airbox and save the filter area for tool storage.

Look in the rat.net wiki section, link at the left side under main menu.

I've used the British Customs kit on both my 06 Bonnie and 04 Thrux ... and both bikes are running the Preds. I figured why not use the kit that's made by the same folks who make the Preds ...

Another vote for Peter Jenks upcoming kit. It's discussed in detail on the NTBF. Jenks stuff is quite impressive. I just ordered the new velocity stack, since I still have and plan on keeping my airbox, but if I were going the airbox elimination route, I go with Jenks.

thanks fellas... i emailed him to ask and he says an airbox elimination kit will be avail June 97 .. and will cost about the same as a set of pipes !!!! yikes

so we'll see ... he also mentioned the use of cone filters and a breather filter but no mention of a suppost brace, like the bellacourse one ..

seems a lot to pay for some space .. ?? prob a diff of $500 canadian for jenks vs $300 canadian for bellacourse or BC

we'll have to see what comes up ..

thanks for the tips .

22 gauge sheet metal from Home Depot, a pair of tin snips, a $20 18 inch metal brake from Harbor Freight Tools, a drill and pop rivet tool, some pop rivets and a can of spray paint.

I would guess if you had none of this and started from scratch you could get away with about $100 invested in the box, unless of course you bought one of those fancy yellow drills Dewalt makes.

That said, a kit takes a lot less time and know how.

No wrong answer, open up that intake!!!!!!!!!

I hacked my original box using rotozip and picked up 2 K&N filters online and a breather from local auto parts store. It was not that hard. Just make sure you get the right jets.. My bike wasn't happy with the ones that came with my predators. I would give it a try. I'm also using the original air filter location as a "glove box"
