Here's a mock up in cardboard. To be fabricated in alloy and probably painted black, or possibly white.

Hey...............why you stealing my style?

As long as you acknowledge I did it first, it will be okay.
And as long as we are on the subject of number plates, you know you can get them from any dirtbike dealer.

They are usually called vintage MX plates, for old flat track racers. About $15 for the pair.

cheers, jason

I got 3 just like that, for 9 bucks plus shipping, had some custom stickers made and they look great

I'm looking for the best way of mounting them

Hi Jason

Was it you that posted a photo of the numberboard a few weeks ago? A great idea, and that got me thinking. Cheers for that.

I'll make up my own in sheet alloy. The mock-up shape is not quite right yet, and I'm playing with possible graphics. I'm thinking black background with metallic silver graphics to mimic the graphics on the standard pods.

If we're intent on giving credit where it's due, then I think it should go to MAS Engineering:

Rob, that was me, and my number plates (good ole #377) I like your style idea though, little smaller though. It is quite difficult to get a perfect oval, hence why I bought mine.

Anf those MAS side covers are nice, but I think they are a couple hundred dollars!! pretty pricey.

cheers, jason

Hi Jason
Many thanks for the inspiration. Frankly, I don't like the MAS side covers. They are too big for my taste.

I want mine smaller, as I'm likely to be fitting billet alloy bellmouths with shaped gauze filters (second row from the top in the photo). These babies need to be seen as they are superb. They will be tested on the dyno to be sure there is no power loss.

I have ordered a set of slightly domed side covers with a rim edging, hand-made to my template, from a local workshop. I'll post a photo of these once I pick them up. They will be superb, and cost a fraction of the ones offered by MAS. All I have to do is fabricate a fixing bracket.
