i finally took delivery on the thruxton and took it for a short ride (weather has been bad in PA) and it was a blast despite the cold.

is there no dipstick for the oil?
no oil temp gauge?
is the stock seat supposed to be a bit wobbly from side to side?

TIA

There is a sight glass on the right side of the crankcase. Get
the owners Manuel out and read the how to section. An oil temp gauge and pressure unit are available from New Bonneville .com, I believe. Do not forget to buy a service Manuel for the bike :-D

Is the seat loose in its mountings? Check the nuts and bolts.
how much do you weigh?

Congrats on the new ride. It is an addiction :lgh: . I know, I have been for over 50 years :-g

are the seat mountings just the two allen bolts on the rear of the seat? those seem to be secure. there is just a lot of play from side to side. I am approx. 175lbs.

thanks steve.

Yes and they are part of the mounting system. The bolts hold the seat securely to the frame. The seat is affixed to the front behind the tank. If it is loose, then it is not secure on the pins. Get the operators Manuel and find the section on seat removal. you will figure it out.

Steve, gears

Take your seat off and have a look underneath. There should be two round rubber bumpers about halfway along the length of the seat (I think they were on the seat, but it could have been the frame). When I first got my bike these had come off and I found them in the bottom of the battery box. The seat slopped around until I discovered this and put them back into the appropriate holes.

Cheers,

Brett
