Helmet? What's that? We don't have a mandatory helmet law for licensed riders over the age of 18, so I rarely use one. I have an old Bell full-face which I wear in really inclement weather or when I intend to go out for some scratching. THAT ought to stir up some poop.
05 Thruxton:
I flipped the headlight mounts/chrome fork covers to raise the headlight. Will be making some spacers to further raise both the clipons and the headlamp about three quarters of an inch.
I fitted Norton Commando fine-pleat gaiters.
I raised the voltage regulator up and behind the headlight and the horn down to the left side of the frame in front of the engine.
I painted the starter bump on the primary case black to match the frame and give the primary a more "retro" look.
I fitted 13.5" NJB (Girling lookalike) shocks and lowered the front an inch.
I relocated my front master reservoir and angled it to match my instruments, reducing the obviousness of that kludge. I was warned that the gates of hell were about to be opened and that I would suffer great gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands when it would begin spooging brake fluid all over my front wheel up to my adam's apple. Nothing yet, nice and dry. Looks a lot better, too.
I filed and painted the bottom two fins of the head to match the cylinder, giving the engine a nice retro look. You can start by just painting them and see if they look right to you.
I had a bunch of stickers from an early nineties copy of Classicbike....Avon, Renold, Mooneyes, etc. Stuck them all over the tailpiece. Very cool.
Eventually, I'd like to do the frame in either gloss black or nickel silver powdercoat and remove the black from the fork sliders. Relace the wheels with 19 and 18 inch Sun rims. Maybe make a more retro looking chainguard.
I plan to fit a 1967 Triumph taillight and either dump the turnsignals or fit the older Lucas ones.
Looking at modifying a 60s, or possibly 80s Bonneville tank and using that or using it as a buck for a mold and making some out of carbon fiber and epoxy. That's waaaay down the line. Hopefully, in the meantime, someone will make a very cool tank that isn't in the four digits to buy.

Oh......also, I would like to remove all the engine finish and leave it natural, painting the cylinder and bottom two fins of the head semigloss black. It might improve the cooling enough to dump the idiot oil cooler. I would also like to make a remote oil filter mount and fit TWO filters....one for the main oil system...the remote from the bottom of the engine, and one more on the exhaust top end/oil cooler system. Maybe a center finned alloy mount and a cartridge filter on either end, with fins on them to provide some cooling. Make some neat alloy and braided oil lines with Earl's components. Yeah, now that's sounding good.

Hahaha.... :-D who says I am scooter guy?

Not sure why that would make my point any less valid....

hmmmmm.....
Well actually I kind have become one...but
That has only been a recent development since 2000....
As I needed something else to fixate on & obsess over.(aside from RD's,Old Triumphs & old Fords.)

I have been riding for 37 years everything from Trials, enduro,MX,desert & street riding (since 1981.)
I am a motorcyclist through & through
I just happen to own a few scooters these days.

As for scooters?......Dont knock it till you try it...scooters are f***ing addictive....just like leaky Triumphs,Norton's & BSA's are.

thanks guys.

NO MORE MAGS!!! The ugly duckling has become a swan.

I still have to ditch the stock sidecovers and airbox. Maybe some swept-back pipes. We'll see.
