Very well is all I can say. I've made too many changes at once to pin-point the exact transformation, but it is most definitely transformed. I believe it is a result of the combination though and not any one mod in particular. The handling is excellent, the 17inch front wheel and Michelin sport radials, beefy hyde fork brace, F3 forks and Race Tech Gold valves and springs, longer ohlins rear shocks, and the hyde steering damper have made this bike handle very well. I highly recommend this combo of parts or similar. The bike feels very planted and stable in corners, there are some nasty pavement sections where I ride that have shifted and heaved up resulting in very unenven road surfaces, but the bike now tracks through these like its on rails. If you think I'm pulling your leg - check the photo below of the lower side of my predators that now sport a little cornering road rash(are shark high pipes in my future?). I covered about a 100 miles in the north GA twisties yesterday, and not another bike in sight all day. Had the roads entirely to myself, not a sport bike in sight to harass . So 17 inch rims - 2 thumbs up :upthumb: - :upthumb: but like I say I believe its more the combo than just the rims.

The motor seems to be working very well too - I like the power - I can easily motor around in 5th all day with an occasional shift to 4th for those nasty 15 MPH hairpins. Very tractable. Haven't really let er rip yet as I'm still in the break in stage. So far everything is working great and I'm really stoked on the results. It'll be fun Duc hunting this season :-D .

Change the oil in her and let her rip! She has clearance in the cylinders, nothing tight and new. Stretch her legs and let her go!

All good thing's are equal to the sum of the total mods...as you mention. Just wait till the front end come's up when your wringing her out...it's good stuff.

With what you've done to the motor exceeding mine I wouldnt see why you shouldnt be in the hi 80rwhp range...dyno variance's excluded.

That head you have should be flowing like mad.

Cant believe you dragged that pred like that...lol

Well i'll be dammed!

The only thing I've scraped to date is the part of the sidestand that wraps around the header... That's pretty impressive considering it's only the second 100 miles. Pretty comfortable on it are ya ?

I've read of guys getting the feelers on the pegs, and even one who claimed to get the headers (on a track day), kinda had a hard time believing that, but a pictures worth a 1000 lies

So with the 17" front have you given up some ground clearance ? or is the suspension just a little more compliant and that's a combination of lean and a bump mid corner ?

Or are ya just a stud ?

Either way, I'm stoked to see this iteration of the Thrux turned out so well...

Greg - patience. It'll take a thousand miles too seat those rings - but at this point they are the only thing breaking in. really just won't have full compression till they get situated. So I have been winding it up pretty good -

Chris - my contacts points are the muffler edge on the right and the deployment arm on the kickstand on the left - when I hear contact on those I ease off. The foot pegs have never been an issue since switching to the oberon units. What suprised me yesterday was how "easy" it was to get to the contact areas. Before I was white knuckled when riding at the point of hard parts hitting pavement, now it is very stable and inspires great confidence in the bikes handling abilities. I actually have raised the bike back to stock ride height front and rear, although yesterday I had zero preload on the ohlins and two turns on the F3's so it was set up on the cadillac side of things. My first major ride in the twisties and did not really plan on going that fast.

I'm really looking forward to the Gap meet in few weeks.

Yeah right - road rash on the mufflers!!

Great news John. You've built yourself an imminently tunable bike - I think that's the key. You've selected a great selection of components that all work together and you have the riding and technical skill to tweak the package.

There's and old cliche that says "power is nothing without control". Maybe we tend to concentrate too much on the power and not enough on the control sometimes?

You have a fantastic package. Why Triumph persist with an 18" front wheel on the Thrux really bothers me... I can't see a single good reason.

On the Hyde fork brace: I see you've removed your gaiters. Can you fit gaiters with this brace? Thanks.

Look forward to hearing your updates.

Eric,

If you had some gaiters that could just "float" on the lower end then they would work - I had my super gaiters set-up to work - but then when fiddling around with them I discovered they only compress about 2 1/2 inches which is not near enough the handle all the fork travel , so off they came. But I do need something to break up the front end though - the painter would not paint my chrome headlight saying it would chip to easy on assembly, mounting, and maintenace, and then the gaiters did not work out so now I have way to much bling on the front for my taste - although getting a fender on the wheel helped to bring the bike together paint wise. But to really answer your question - there is no way to "properly" mount a fork gaiter with this brace. It'll have to be rigged.
