I had been having a problem for a few weeks that I couldn't figure out.

My bike would pop (allmost like a mis-fire) occasionally for what seemed like no reason. It would probably happen once every 4-5 min and I couldn't figure it out. I though it may be a bowl float issue, I had recently installed a NARK, Staintunes and 1 shim, 42 pilot, 145 mains and 3 turns. I thought it may need a little more gas in the bowl, changed that and it still popped. Side gaped the plugs, still popped. Installed iridum plugs, still popped. Scratched head, still popped. Thought it may be too rich and scheduled a dyno session for this weekend to check the AF mix.

Riding back to work from lunch yesterday, pop-pop-popop-poop. Dead bike. After walking back to work and getting a friend to take me by my house to grab some tools and back to the bike, I found the problem. Broken connector on the positive battery cable. The bungie strap had broke and the battery was bouncing around and had caused the terminal connector to snap. Taped it back on and took it to the local shop where they replaced it.

I plan on using a wedge of minicel foam to keep the battery stable in the NARK and use a heavy duty velcro strap to hold it down. I figured I would post it here so that some of you may want to check to see if you batteries are secure in the NARK and fix them so you don't end up like me walking down the interstate

Oh yeah, the good news. The weakened terminal connector seems to be the cause of the poping, the bike is running all smooth now.

I replaced the rubber strap within 500 miles. It's garbage. Now use zip ties with the NARK.

This was a topic not to long ago. But it is worth mentioning again.

My battery strap looks like ***** on my 05 ST so I think it is a Triumph thing.

Glad that was the only problem.

I've found the failure with rubber mounting with electrics. Zip ties make good replacements.
