I did it for clearance reasons. The small shift arm directly on the shaft was hitting, so I took it off, cut it in half, cut off the shift arm and welded the two parts that were left together and installed it with the shift lever facing to the rear. Clearance problem solved, gp pattern accomplished, no longer have to get my toe under the lever for shifts coming out of turns.

I've gotta switch it this year because I was getting confused at the end of last season when I bought my race bike... Don't want to shift the wrong way on the track, so my Thruxton needs to get GP shifting.

I thought all you had to do was flip the collar on the transmission shaft. Isn't that all there is to it?

You can't just flip the little arm on the shifter shaft-it won't clear the cluth cover. I'll post a pic of what I did tonite when I get home. It's on my home computer and I'm at work.

I am interested in this, reasons twofold. Sounds like that shift pattern makes more sense, and when I dropped my bike the other day, my lever got a little bent. Can you guys exlpain this a little more to me?

thanks

cheers, jason

it changes the pattern from 1 down/4 up to 1 up 4 down racers use it for cornering so they dont have to get their foot under the lever when thay are leaned over coming out of a corner. i also think it reduces missed shifts. most bikes the linkage can be flipped 180 to accomplish this. im still looking for a good solution. i like the previous idea but he has moved the footpeg location up or so it looks. so this wont work for me. :-D
