Your welcome John, thank you again for your help as well.

I need to get a 1000 miles on it before May 1st and do a dyno run and check the air fuel ratio.

Everyone has their own belief's and feeling's for motor break in. imo a dyno is a great way to break in a motor. When I had my motor work done, it was broken in on a 250i dyno.

The bike literally had 35 additional miles on it compared to when I dropped it off, I was told when I picked it up I could do anything to it I wanted. While I didnt abuse it, I did carry it through the rev range on the 100+ mile ride home with no issue's whatsoever to date.

Cant wait to see pic's of this thing, as well as hearing what kind of #'s your getting.
Trim - theres really not much breaking in here - only seating the rings in, which will take all of a 1000 miles and maybe even a little more before they are fully seated - nickasil is very different than seating convention rings. I will be riding the bike fairly hard from the get go with lots of down shifting for engine braking to load the rings that way as well. The second 500 hundred miles will be WFO as far as the motor goes. I'll probably do an exhaust gas analysis right off the bat and then the dyno run after tuning and the rings get seated in.

I agree on a NTB rally! It would be cool to have a meet and greet.

BTW, we need some sound files of that pig :-D

Greg
Greg - are you attending the rally in May? I'll be up there Thur - Sun. I know 04blackbonnie, scott03bonnie, scbonneville, and hogtied will be there among many others. Usually 20-30 bonnies from all over show up. I think this is year 4 for the rally.

Can't wait to see it. Did you say the paint is ready? Any chance of a teaser picture? And why a new swingarm?
Swingarm coming in aluminum - shave about 6 pounds from this pig. Sorry, no teaser pics all the painted parts are in the dining room (stacked on the table) and the lightings really bad in there. :-D

Great stuff John. Looking forward to completion almost as much as you. You're right about unchartered waters - it's a brave voyage. But we all know you have the navigation qualities. It's going to be fantastic. Ride height adjustable Ohlins?? Great!
Thanks Eric - I probably should measure the rake and trail when its all done - that extra length on the F3 fork tubes could come in very handy at this stage. I've raised the forks to compensate for the 17 front wheel but now the longer rear shocks are taking more rake out of the equation - but having the chopper like rake of the stocker to begin with I'll still be no where close to the small amount of rake many sport bikes currently run. Make no mistake this will NOT be handling like a 600RR or any other modern sport bike for that matter. But the frame is VERY stout (and heavy)
and with great tires and suspension pieces should make for a VERY fun ride.

John -

So where are the pictures ? I can't wait to see the new wheels & paint.

I know others have talked about a central location for a meet, I like the idea of Austin or thereabouts.

Sometime late spring early summer would be great.

Maybe we should start trying to put one together ?

I'm looking foward to hearing more about this swingarm. 6 pounds in unsprung weight is a ton. not to mention it's probably a lot stiffer.

Well, no extra bedrooms, but if you don't mind bunking with a 5 year old...or sharing the living room with a 5 year old Airedale Terrier, mi casa su casa...

OTOH, my parents have a sweet lakehouse about 60 miles out of town, in the hill country, that is smack dab in the middle of some great rides. We could setup base camp there. And it's on the water.

The best time of year here is around April-June, then Sept to November. July/August is hot as hell here.

i'd be up for a meet. Texas isn't too far. There are some amazing canyons 5 to 10 minutes from my house though.
