Thanks everyone
Mancha - I always end up putting the key in or out of the ignition when I'm off the bike so this works for me. Its easy to turn on and off on the bike, like reaching for a choke lever.
Vertwrks - I thought about hiding all the wires under the seat - but then came into a Corbin Smuggler. I really like it - holds wallet, camera, cell phone, gloves, food, tools, etc. So that left me with no place to hide all that stuff easily- except where it was. I like side covers on the bike - and have not seen any that I like BETTER than stock - although there are many I like as well. The stock ones retain the vintage triumph look in my mind. Same for the tank, for me the stock styling of the tank, side covers and cowl I like, so Im sticking as close as possible. The same reason I didn't go for mag wheels - many HUGE benefits - but I like spokes on polished alloy.
Chris - I looked at Cambria this year - just SOOO far away from me. Like 2500 miles one way. Don't think I'll be making it as much as I'd like too. A big centrally located NTBF rally needs to be organized so we could all meet and ride. It's either east or west coast.
Received my custom graphics today so all the body work is off to the paint shop for a combination of metallics, pearls, stripes and my new graphics under clear coat.

I have luster over the gunfighter since I bought my Bonnie, just nice to have some storage. My tank bag keeps scratching my tank and my saddle bags, well .... they hold stuff well but not the asthetics I am after. Function vs form I guess. I used to have a cowl on the back of my 500 interceptor that held most everything I needed for a days ride, similar to the gunfighter.
Dang, your ride just gets sweeter........

This ain't your grandpa's Bonneville, no sir - the beast is up and running - although with some idle issues I was unable to sort out before removing the pipes and hauling them down for ceramic coating. The sound will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. My next door neighbor came over during the ruccus, he summed up the motor by saying " Man that thing sounds intimidating". So I move closer to completion, and can hardly wait to ride this bike.
All the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put Triumphs frame together again. Wow, getting those frame bolts, frame pieces and everything back together again is like solving a chinese puzzle. There is just enough free play to make everything very interesting fitment wise, and you have to figure out where and when to use the jack and the weight of the bike to "tweak" evrything just so and then slip the bolt in. I finally got the right side foot peg bracket on tonight - the last piece of the puzzle.
I also have the new metallic paint, graphics, and pearl stripes on the body work. Turned out very well - sometimes when your picking all the colors and pieces you have to wonder how it will all really turn out. Plus I did not do my own paint work this time - let a friend do it for me, stripes and graphics are not my strong point.
Still waiting on new rear shocks and swingarm, plus a steering damper, and some oil line pieces (thanks SCCT) so I can fit the headlight under my lowered gauges. I went back to the original length shocks and raised the front a little to offset the 17 inch wheel, so the bike will be sitting higher than before and have more cornering clearance. The Ohins are also adjustable for length and can go another 1/2" taller than stock. Steering damper because I'm getting into uncharted waters for me and this Thrux and in case it develops any surprises at speed, a steering damper may help me out. The 160 and 120 tires look great on the bike - just the right size for the bike for my taste. Hope to have the parts next week and the swingarm by April 25th. I'd like to have it before the NTBF gap rally. With any luck I'll be riding it in 10 days or so. I need to get a 1000 miles on it before May 1st and do a dyno run and check the air fuel ratio.

Can't wait to see it. Did you say the paint is ready? Any chance of a teaser picture? And why a new swingarm?

Your welcome John, thank you again for your help as well.
I need to get a 1000 miles on it before May 1st and do a dyno run and check the air fuel ratio.
Everyone has their own belief's and feeling's for motor break in. imo a dyno is a great way to break in a motor. When I had my motor work done, it was broken in on a 250i dyno.
The bike literally had 35 additional miles on it compared to when I dropped it off, I was told when I picked it up I could do anything to it I wanted. While I didnt abuse it, I did carry it through the rev range on the 100+ mile ride home with no issue's whatsoever to date.
Cant wait to see pic's of this thing, as well as hearing what kind of #'s your getting.

Great stuff John. Looking forward to completion almost as much as you. You're right about unchartered waters - it's a brave voyage. But we all know you have the navigation qualities. It's going to be fantastic. Ride height adjustable Ohlins?? Great!
