Hi BeastInBlack

I assure you the engine is a *****cat in town with a 19 tooth front sprocket and 2 teeth off the rear sprocket. The engine is so torquey it doesn't notice the longer gearing. A friend of mine has also changed the gearing to my set up and says the same. My motor is still pulling strongly above an indicated 120mph, and the motor is spinning approx. 1000rpm less than it did with stock sprockets at 70mph. I bought my alloy rear sprocket from Busters at the Ally Pally show for £20.00, so they are cheap enough to experiment with.

I am currently having a pair of Keihin 39mm FCR Flatslide carbs fitted, after Bob Farnham recommended them. I'm hoping for another 5 to 10 bhp at the rear wheel. I may go down another tooth on the rear after this mod, depending on how the bike runs. Bob Farnham will be lightening the flywheel when I get the bike back with the new carbs.

Happy days

Ever since I put the 19t on the clutch likes to chatter a bit now from pull-off, although I must admit, I havent put the stronger springs in yet, it is next on my to-do list though, ie this saturday! My clutch hasnt slipped yet though.

What rpm is your motor doing at 120 mph?

On the dyno my motor peaked at 70 rwhp at 7000rpm and then fell quite a bit.

At the moment I have no more top speed than before, but amount of available grunt compared to before... no comparison

Id love to upgrade the carbs, bit out of my budget now though!

Bob fitted the 10% stronger clutch springs when he did the head work. The clutch is perfect.

Dyno runs below show BHP and Torque respectively. The blue lines are with Predators fitted. The red lines are with Triumph TORS cans fitted. Look how the power line is almost flat from 6k to almost 8k, and just look at the flat torque line, compared to the TORS. Predators rock :-D :-D :-D

I can't remember what the RPM was at 120mph, but there were plenty of revs left. I'll check it out when I collect the bike.

You may be pleasantly suprised at the cost of the carb kit, once its available. The company doing the work is using my bike for developing the carb kit for sale in the UK. I'll release the details once the job is done and I'm happy with the results, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. Watch this space.

I was at 7000 at 110 mph I dont go at those speeds much so I guess I probably do need those springs...

He told me that he thought the T100 already had the stronger springs, when I told him that they didnt he sent me the springs and the gasket. It shouldnt be too difficult to change.

My torque curve virtually mirrors yours, the power curve is similar but it peaks dead on 7000 rpm and falls away as quick as it came!

Gotta love that midrange grunt round the country roads!

Keep me posted about that aftermarket carb kit/company involved!

Hi Jeremy

Mileage - I have no idea as I have not checked it, nor did I check it before the sprocket change. Mileage may have improved due to the longer gearing but I can't be sure. It can't be checked now because the next time I ride the bike will be with the new carbs fitted. I assume the fuel consumption will deteriorate with the new 39mm flatslide carbs, as they are 4mm bigger than the standard carbs. I will check it with the new carbs, just out of curiosity.

I hit reserve at about 100, then again I am sucking in more fuel/air than usual.

Then again my fuel consumption has always been about that.
