I enjoyed my Thruxton, as she is a classic beauty. As I send this message, I'm off to trade her away (TORs, bar ends, 2500 miles) to pick up a brand new S3 with a full titanium Arrow"Triumph" exhaust system, power commander, seat cowl, and bar ends.

Of course, the S3 is black. I took a hit on the sale of my bike by trading in, but since I'd bought my Thruxton and several accessories from my dealer--I scored a good deal in terms of the trade, retail price of the S3, exhaust, new jacket, and other assorted things that can add up if purchased retail.

Still a Triumph rider, but flying the Triple now.

Thanks for all the tips that I've learned here, as all contributed to my enjoyment of the Thruxton.

Regards,

Karl

Come back and post pics later (if you can stop riding it for a few minutes).
I don't check the triple forum very often.

I don't blame you one bit, the S3 is awesome, and that arrow exhaust looks as bad ass as can be.

congrats

My dealer has a demo s3...along with alot of others. I'm scared to ride that bike, I know if I do my bonneville will pale in comparison to the point that I'll want the s3.

Same, here. If I even SIT on one of the S3's at my dealer (I like the white one) I will be selling my car to ride away on it.

Enjoy it for me!

Yeah those S3's are sweet looking bikes and I can't help but drool each time I head into the bike shop. I also remind myself that if I traded in my Thrux for one there would come a day when I would probably regret my decision so I don't. How about a S3 and a Bonnie sitting in the garage. $$$$$$
Go you good thing!!!!!

I took an S3 for a test ride once. Even though I loved the power, the upright seating position would have driven me nuts. I'd have had to throw a lot of money into clip-ons (or Clubmans) and rearsets. (Not that I mind throwing money at a bike. :-D )

Congrats. The S3 was top of my list when I traded my Tiger for the Thruxton, but old school won me over.

Enjoy. Many safe miles.

edit:Wait a minute. 2500 miles on an 04? Hows that?

Congrats. I'm trying to get my wife to allow me to buy a S3. But I want to keep the Thrux.

That's exactly how I felt just sitting on a Speed Triple. Nice bike, awful seating position. In addition to the bars, I would have actually also needed to replace the seat with one that doesn't have the butt-hugging contour because I found that the edge of the contour was exactly where I wanted to sit. The place you're "supposed" to sit is too far forward and too cramped for me.
