i have been after a paddock stand for a while now, all the ones i`ve tried catch on the silencers before touching the swing arm. i found this one that may solve that problem

http://www.motrax.co.uk/index.php?pa...product_id=866

if it works i wonder if i`ll miss my chain oiling ritual, forwards a foot, oil the chain, forwards another foot, oil the chain........... :-D

I've been using this for six months, works pretty
well on the Thruxton and doesn't hit anything
as long as you position it properly:

That stand will need bobbins. If you pop the plastic plugs from the rear wheel spindle, one side will take an M8 tap, the other side an M10. I have tapped mine but have not gotten round to getting bobbins.

BIKE-IT do pairs of bobbins in various threads, including 'standard' metric i.e. M10x1.5, only you (or I) would need to buy a pair of M8 and a pair of M10 and be left with a spare 'pair' for sending off to a like minded individual

I have not offered up a stand to the rear spindle yet - the bobbins might end up too wide for the Motrax stand. I have an old micron stand that I was going to mod to suit.

Let us all know how you get on.

Pict,

i might be wrong but i think this motrax stand can be used without bobbins, if you turn the top part over there are two rubber? blocks that go under the swing arm. i thought that because the blocks are fastened to thinner pieces of metal this might allow the blocks to lift the swing arm before the main part of the stand hits the silencers.
according to motrax web site my nearest triumph dealers have this type of stand so i will call in next time i`m passing and i will let you know.

bear with me here cos its hard to describe but here goes,

i have noticed that under the swing arm near the back there is a small hole, don`t know what its for, but if you had some thin aluminium made in to a digital number 4 shape, looking from the end, this would then fit under the swing arm, bolt it to that hole, bobbins screwed on to the tail part, same on the other side, jobs maybe a good un.
hope thats as clear as mud for you, i know what i`m on about :-D

Hi typhoo

I had a closer look and I see what you mean about not needing bobbins, but it doesn't look like it would be very secure on thes rubber pads... Post a report when you have seen the thing in the flesh !

i rung the triumph dealers and they said they did`nt have this stand in stock and they could`nt say when they would have any more in.
if you look on the where to buy tab there is a list of places that stock it, i will try and have another look and ring a few more up on friday.
i have a two week gap until my next pre-65 trial and i`m busy stuffing modern internals into my bsa front forks, juggling family and work means paddock stands have taken a bit of a back seat.
i will definately let you know when i find one because i think this sort will work, i agree the blocks do look a bit weedy but motrax is quite a well known brand so i`m sure they will be ok.

I welded up a simple paddock stand that attaches to the factory center stand tabs with removable pins. Ultra secure, supports the bike neat the center making it easy to raise the front wheel.

i`ve got one of these motrax stands,(see the link at the top) it works ok on my thruxton, clears the pipes and the bike feels stable when raised.
i will post pictures (when i work out how) and more details when i have a bit more time, first impressions seem favourable.
