Hi,
I'm in the process of converting my T140V to a cafe racer.
I have some jota ace bars and I'm looking to replace my front brake lever/cylinder with a cheaper 2nd hand jap one from ebay as the original is knackered.
Does anyone know of any that will fit the original banjo as I don't want to replace all the pipe work just the lever assembly.

Cheers Steve

Steve,

I have a T140D. While I'm still using the original lever/resevoir, I went with a braided line from the bars direct to the caliper. I eliminated the 4 "junctions" where a leak might occur. Of course, doing that also took the brake light sensor out of the loop, but I'm not worried about that.

That might be one option...upgrade the line (stock flex can deteriorate on the inside) in addition to installing your new master/lever.

Sorry, I know that doesn't answer your question. Just thought it might be easy to replace the whole setup at once.

cheers,
paul

Thanks Paul .. Is the connection to the caliper a standard fitting ?
ie did you get the braided hose made up or are there off the shelf
hoses you can get .

Cheers Steve

I got it off the shelf from my local shop. It was a Norman Hyde brand hose with the banjo fitting on the lever end and a fitting that screws right into the caliper on the other. And three copper washers, too. I believe it was 28" or maybe 32". Darn memory failing. But there was a enough slack.

cheers,
paul

OH! And have you installed the jota bars yet? You may need to get new handlebar clamps.

I'm putting clubmans on my '79 Bonnie and had to get some old Yamaha XS risers to mount them. Still waiting for the risers to get here, so I'll report back to say if they work or not.

That would be great if you let me know about the risers ... save me a lot
of hunting about I can source them from a breaker. I've seen a few on
ebay but they all have wider bolts than the bonnie (3/8 inch).

Steve,

Got the risers in the mail last night. Hopefully I'll be able to install them sometime this week. I will report back as soon as I have a verdict.

cheers,
paul
