I'd be interested to see the powerband of the 904cc. BC stated 85hp from their kit. Is that w/ stock carbs, cams, etc...?

Why is the price for the Wiseco kits 904cc & 988cc($500) so much cheaper than the British Customs kit($1200 & 1600) ? Because the Wiseco kit is sleeves and not a complete head? Is one really better than the other?

Wiseco uses stone age iron sleeves, BC uses replated Nickel sleeves (much more modern, longer life, etc).

That 85 hp has to be with cams, headwork, big bore, and then some...that's pretty, let's say, optimistic...

The material in question is nickasil. It is silicon nitride, very hard. It is not so much plated as melded to the alloy surface. This has been used by MotoGuzzi and some other manufacturers for years. Very hard, but if you have to bore the cylinder and fit oversize pistons, you have to recoat the cylinder walls. Spendy.

Hi tomillo,
Why don't you spend some time with the bike first, and see how it feels. You may be surprised by it's performance. Also you may want to look into air box removal, new pipes, etc. before dieciding to go big bore. I see you have a speed triple. Lemme tell ya, this bike will never perform like that, nor does it "want to". just my 2 cents(lira?).

The 790 has good cams, maybe you could get a stock 865 cylinder and some 10 to one pistons. Open up the intake and exhaust. When you get tired of that boost, your bank account should have filled back up and maybe you could opt for some better carbs.

Hi !

Interesting topic... Is there anyone out there, who knows about hi-compression pistons 10-1 or 10,5-1, just for fitting in the original barrels, (865 Thrux engine) 90mm bore ? :hammer:

nycthrux speaks the truth. I cant quantify this, but I'll bet when hotrodding the Thrux well beyond the stock conditions, you can expect things to wear much faster, break more often and generally tax the world you live in (i.e. more phone calls to your mechanic $$$, more parts hunting on the web $$$, more frustration).

Let the S3 be your weapon, let the thrux be your moto equivalent of a good Brittany Spaniel. Always there, playful as he11 and wont scare the neighbors. Chicks dig em too, just not most wives.
