Although I don't want to put saddle bags on my Thrux, I plan to do some longer cruises/trips in the future and will need em on at least for those rides. I've looked at Triumph's bags for the Thrux and really like the look of the leather city bags. Is the price that's listed on sites just for one of the bags or both sides? Are they big enough to fit rain gear and such in? Also saw some nylon or fabric type saddle bags that looked a little bigger although don't seem to match the bike as well. Guess what ever is most practical and inexpensive would be best, just plan on having the bags on only when necessary.

I'm not exactly sure how most of the bags attach to the Thruxton, is the rear fender needed? Mine has the fender elimination kit and I don't want to have to put the fender back on.

Thanks

I use Tourmaster Cortech Saddlebags and tailbag. It's a good system that works well on the Thrux. I use the rear signals stalks as a mounting pointing, but I'm sure you could figure out some other way to mount them at the rear. If you have the fender eliminator kit with the turn signals mounted at the shocks, you're pretty much screwed because any bags are going to cover the signals. That's the main reason I haven't done a fender elimination. If you looks through these trips pics, you'll see some shots of the bags.

Thanks for the reply and pics to view Curefan. The saddle bags will definitely cover up the turn signals on my bike. I'm wondering if I could get away with a tailbag and possibly wearing a backpack if necessary. On the cruises we'd have a truck w/ trailer then go on day trips with the bikes so I don't think I'd need as much baggage to bring on the bike as you had! lol, your bike was packed full.

Know what you mean about having bags for when you want/need them. I had a BMW R1100S with bags before trading for my Thruxton, I was looking for bags that would work and look good on a Thruxton. I bought a set of Triumph Sport Pannier's, they go over the seat (cowl removed) and tie off to the foot peg mount. I haven't used them yet but when I need them I've got them. They list for $200 and are well made. The link below is from a Triumph web page and they show them on a sport bike (sprint I think) but they list them for the Thruxton.

4Triumph, I like those bags very much, great price, good size, and look good. Problem is as Curefan pointed out that side bags will probably cover up my turn signals.

Maybe I'll have to stop at a Triumph dealer and try some bags on.

Okay, I thought you said your from Milwaukee? I see you have something you call turn signals, ya I could see the bags hiding them being that you can't see them anyway. So, why don't you take a 2" round amber truck lite and attach it to the back side of the sport bag, then wire in a pig tail and do the same on the one you installed on your bags. Now you'll have a turn signal on the rear of the bike and everyone is happy

Ya, I'm in the Milwaukee area :???:

That is a great idea to attach a light to the back of the bag! I think that's probably what I'll do, just have to make sure no bare wire is exposed

A little wire loom over the wires would do the trick, then you could poke a couple small holes through the inside wall of the bag and stick a wire tie in and around the wire loom and back out of the bag and it'd hold everything in place inside the saddle bag. You could put a nice little two wire plug on the end and on your harness on the bike so you'd be able to remove the bag. I was just having a little fun, doesn't Milwaukee make great things?
