Alright ladies and gents, how do you take apart the stock bonneville shocks?? I am thinking of winter projects, and the springs are calling for a better color. Not to mention I would like to take off those pesky chrome covers. Any ideas??

cheers, jason

Jason, clamp the bottom eye in a vice, fish TWO straps from TWO of your ratcheting tiedowns around and thru a couple of the coils nearest to the shroud and cinch down the tie downs, alternating sides.Compress the springs a couple inches and the shroud will drop down to expose a 17mm locking nut.Loosen it a bit [I stuck a screw driver thru the upper eye to hold it in place],then unscrew the upper eye from the shaft by hand.Eazy,sleazy. :-D This is what you get afterwards.
