What is included in the "Fender Elimination Kits" that can't be fabricated in your own garage? Is it just the alternative lighting and mounting? I don't want to shell out the cash for the kit if it's something I could've just fabricated locally...

Thanks

anything can be fab'd in the garage!

you can hack up your stock fender to make it really short, mount the light and plate on it, then get some aftermarket signals and sort that out too, you can even use the wires and harness from your stock light to wire it all, although you may have to run a new ground, but how hard is that?

short story long, it can be done for less than 100 bucks easily if you're good with tools.

This is the kit that can be bought on a german site http://www.classicbike-raisch.de (Think i got the link from this forum)

Sure does look like something you can make yourself (well that what i was thinking about) Since i'm working in an inox-factory i'm going to try to do it myself during wintertime.

Here are some pics:

Looks sharp in my opinion

i did this myself with a $20 tail Light from a custom shop and a $20 pair of turn signals. Then i just meaured out how much fender i wanted and had my friend take it to work and use a plasma cutter on it. Came out pretty nice.

More pics of my bike in another post.

It looks to me that the sheet metal in the kit doesn't support anything, it's just a splashguard. If that's the case, I'll knock this thing out with Kydex and a heat gun - lighter, cheaper and way, way less work.

The bob job on your fender looks great! That came out really nice.

Bought mine from NewBonneville and the kit included: Front and Rear turn signals with plug-n-play harnesses. The rear signals include a powder coated plate for mounting. The LED tail light that incorps powder coated lic plate frame (again - plug-n-play harness), and a plastic plate that mounts under the seat. Plus all mounting bolts etc. I hate wiring - so the plug-n-play harnesses sealed the deal for me.

I tried putting an LED brake light on, but i thought it looked to new for the bike. I really like the 60's look to the bike and didn't want to change that.

I totally agree - the thing that drew me to the "Modern Classics" and especially the Thruxton is the look. Then after riding there was no other choice. Any appearance mods I make will make the bike look older, not newer. If I wanted LEDs I would've bought a "modern" naked bike.

That said I do plan some "under-the-skin" performance mods and also want to get rid of the rear fender. I'd like to use the Lucas style light kits that both Bella Corse and NewThruxton have. Don't think it will be too hard, just have to run new grounds for the turn signals (I think.) After that some Hagon shrouded shocks. *****, I'm jonesing hard for a garage of my own (not a stall in apt. parking.) :-D
