There was a thread in the Twin Hangout about bar ends and I thought I'd post about the barends I recently bought. Originally I had just stacked some fender washers and mounted my CRG's on the stack. Used the original cap and screw and all was good. However, finding my bike on it's side one night left me in a pretty foul mood, but worse, somewhat damaged mirrors.

Looking into bar ends, I found these sold by Rhinomoto that have indents so that CRG's can be mounted. With the LS style mirrors, the folding mechanism seems like it will be protected if the bike ends up on it's side.

I had to drill out my bar ends and re-tap for 5mm, but I feel a lot better about having them. Added bonus is less vibration in the bars.

Thanks for the photos. The mirrors look great with the Rhinos. I think you've sold me on that set up.

Nice work!

P.S. Looks like your brake fluid could use a change (very dark)

Very nice, wish I would have seen this before the Rizomas... Happy with them though.

They look great, but how do they work. For all the ooooogliness of the stock Thruxton mirrors, they DO work well. They also weigh a ton.

Thanks for the info. I did end up ordering them from Rhinomoto directly. They are nice quality pieces and are available in a number of combinations.

Mecchanica,

I personally love the CRG mirrors. I couldn't see past my shoulders with the stocks and the looks of them bothered the hell out of me. The bar end style might not be for everyone, but it suits me. Riding in NYC makes the lane split versions a necessity as I refuse to wait behind cars at stop lights. This is due to having been rear ended at a light not to long ago.

The Rhinomoto bar ends weigh enough to cancel out a good amount of the handlebar vibration. Riding at 80mph or above for any extended periods of time before would result in numb hands in about 30 minutes. Last long ride I took at such speeds I hit reserve before my hands went numb. I considered that an improvement and as I mentioned before, should the bike end up on its side from being tipped, the mirrors seem as if they will be protected. At $85 each for the mirrors, I figured the bar ends were a decent investment.
