I recently made this skeletonized aluminum sprocket cover, and just got done putting it on my bike. This thing will require the use of Bel Ray Superclean instead of oil to reduce mess. It is very light and saves 1.43 pounds of weight over stock. The round cutout hole is concentric with the countershaft. I plan to offer these for sale via Newbonneville.com, like the gas cap I posted earlier this summer (which should be available very soon). OK, I am heading off to take a ride on my bike

Bill- It would probably be about two months before I had some ready to sell. I am actually using no front fender. When it rains, or when the road is just a little wet, I and the bike get dirty, but I liked the look of no fender when I saw it on some of those racing Thruxtons, so it's a matter of sacrificing comfort for style.

Rodburner- I actually test rode it 35 miles today with just sneakers on (I have been in the habit since age 3 of always double-knotting the bow in my shoe laces, though). On the Thruxton with rearsets, your foot is actually quite a ways back from the sprocket. On a Bonnie, it would be closer to the sprocket. You can hear the chain running over the front sprocket now, with it being more exposed. I like the sound (always liked hearing it on my dirt bike, too).

Fast_Fashion- Yes, those are just Supertrapps clamped right on to the ends of the headers. I love the way they look and sound. You can see bluing on the header in the photos where I tried to heat up the header and unbend the kink. I had the header off the bike and clamped to a metal table, but no luck - got it bright red, but it wouldn't move. I didn't have a proper torch, just MAPP-gas. I wanted to bend the headers to tuck in the mufflers closer to the bike a little bit more. They will drag just before the foot pegs would drag, the way they are now.

Since your in the mood to build stuff, how about a set of articulated, over the seat, saddlebag rails [or whatever you call them, that keep the bags out of the spokes] that would fold up [3 piece,2 hinge] and slip into one of the bags when not in use. They could hook under the seat strap on Bonnies and use the cowl mount on Thruxtons. Some guys like to take trips but can`t stand extra stuff mounted to their bike. :-D
