Hi,
Finally got delivery ( purchased unseen over the phone) of my new 2006 Yellow Thruxton today after being shipped 2800 kilometres (1750 miles) by train from Perth, Western Australia to Adelaide, South Australia!! Thats equiv to London to Moscow! anyway.....its still got 4km on the clock.

I have already purchased the Naploeon mirrors to fit on the bike. Im new to bikes ( new after a 20 years absence) and was hoping someone could list a definitive step by step ( ie step 1.....step 2...)on how to fit them in laymans terms.
I know there are several threads on this subject , but it can still be confusing for a newbie like me.
Id be very grateful for any help.
What a great looking bike and I quite like the stock exhaust sound.

Congrats on the new bike - can't help with the mirrors as I have no idea - but if you don't get an answer here - try posting in the Twin Talk forum where a broader audience exists. There are a number of members sporting these mirrors. Enjoy the new ride. JCW

I had to customize the mirrors to fit the bike, since the handlebars are solid, with that small bolt... I kind of improvised it, with my buddy's grinder and parts from the hardware store, but here is a step by step link I found for the napoleons. This is for the Tbird, so you'll probably have to improvise a little for the Thruxton, since the bars are solid on the Thrux.

Hope this helps.

I made no mods to the napoleon's... just purchased a longer bolt that has the same thread pattern as stock, trimmed the rubber stopper a bit and tightedned down the mirror. I didn't grind the mirror at all. The result was the mirror sticks out slightly past the grip but otherwise it works nicely. Make sure you have some locktite on the bolt or you might have to check often to make sure the bolt is tight...

If you can return the Napoleons and order the Triumph brand bar end mirrors (Napoleons with adaptors installed); you'd just have a 10 minute installation with no modification needed.

I believe that you have to order the Triumph brand bar end mirrors from a dealership. In the U.S. they list for approx. $105 a pair vs. quite a bit less for the Napoleons that you'd have to mod to fit the solid stock bars.

Ditto on the Triumph Napoleons, cinch to fit, look good, fitting instructions in the box, shame they are made in Japan

Healey,

Not that hard to get them to fit. First take the mirror apart, toss the rubber expansion tube and 8mm bolt. You have to cut off the small protruding piece of metal(rap it in a cloth and place in a vise,as not to scratch it)cut off with a hack saw.replace both the plactic and metal washer/covers buy a 5mm allen head bolt and your done.
Note: left side is easy, right side you have to be care full that you have enough clearance for the brake lever and that the throttle isn't rubbing on the mirror. i have to move both up the bar slightly

hope this helps.

Local dealer sugested I tap the end of the bar to fit the 8 1.25 bolts and cut the mirrors.

Seems easy Drill, Tap, Cut, Bolt

On the throtle side I used a washer as a cutting guide so I have about an 1/8 of an inch to keep it from hitting the grip.
