Alas, I never ride two-up . They ARE an improvement, but they are a bit over-sprung in my opinion. Probably very good two-up for the same reason. Damping is effective with a good range of adjustment. To deal with the stiff springs I ended up backing completely off the compression damping & using somewhere near 1/2 the available rebound damping. I put them on at the same time I finished doing the CBR F3 fork internals, so that made it a little tricky to judge side by side. I DO like the ride of the aluminum ikons I have now better as they're softer, but I'm a pretty light guy, like 145 or so. For someone closer to 200 I bet they'd be a better match. The rex shocks probably weigh about the same or slightly more than the stockers. Without doing the simple ride height mod to them, they'll raise the rear a bit resulting in quicker steering. Thanks for the compliments on the bike!

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
backing off on damping is a really poor way to deal with over springing. Backing off preload is slightly better but in reality its best to swap out the spring. Would the stock thrux ones fit the zrx items? - though then you might be back to too soft.

I wonder if they ony feel over sprung because they are not well matched to the front (i.e the front is comparatively under sprung) . Anybody actually checked their sag after fitting these?

whatisit, you bike looks awesome! Nice original looking Thrux. All thruxtons look good, but yours is very original, sublime, and barebones badassed!

I agree that backing off compression damping isn't the way to deal with a too stiff spring. But it is better than a too stiff spring plus stiff compression damping. I was running them on the lowest preload ramp, and with the 1/2 inch ride height mod mentioned earlier. I think I've got the measured sag written down in a notebook, I'll see if I can dig it up. If the ZRX shocks come apart it's beyond me as to how. Actually, there is a company that takes 'em apart revalves & could probably fit other springs (stock thrux springs would be too narrow though) for rex owners, but buying shocks AND sending them out would put you close to aftermarket resevoirs in price, still not be as good, plus they're heavier. It's a decent upgrade for Rex owners who already have the shocks, I think during a group buy on the rex board the re-valving was running about $250 or something.

If people keep complimenting my bike, I'll have to hang around here more. Presently I'm building up a ground up kawi H2 and playing around with bits on an R1, so the thrux has been shelved as a project. Still the funnest bike to take a spin on though & I ride it often. When I get back into it it'll be big-bore time.

Hi,
sorry I haven't posted, I'm just back home after two weeks of holliday in Croatia on Thruxton of course. I will be back on the net with the report of my impression if I could only have possibility to paste few pics inside a message. The Photo Album Submission Area is currently closed. Is any other way to paste a photo ? Anybody help?
Kawa shocks worked great. no comparison to the stock one.
