I wonder if they ony feel over sprung because they are not well matched to the front (i.e the front is comparatively under sprung) . Anybody actually checked their sag after fitting these?

I agree that backing off compression damping isn't the way to deal with a too stiff spring. But it is better than a too stiff spring plus stiff compression damping. I was running them on the lowest preload ramp, and with the 1/2 inch ride height mod mentioned earlier. I think I've got the measured sag written down in a notebook, I'll see if I can dig it up. If the ZRX shocks come apart it's beyond me as to how. Actually, there is a company that takes 'em apart revalves & could probably fit other springs (stock thrux springs would be too narrow though) for rex owners, but buying shocks AND sending them out would put you close to aftermarket resevoirs in price, still not be as good, plus they're heavier. It's a decent upgrade for Rex owners who already have the shocks, I think during a group buy on the rex board the re-valving was running about $250 or something.
If people keep complimenting my bike, I'll have to hang around here more. Presently I'm building up a ground up kawi H2 and playing around with bits on an R1, so the thrux has been shelved as a project. Still the funnest bike to take a spin on though & I ride it often. When I get back into it it'll be big-bore time.
