Hello all,
been looking through the site since I got my Thruxton.(Black the fastest colour)
She is standard for now except for the TORs i got installed from new.
Just got the 500 mile sevice done yesterday so now I can open her up a bit.
Something I have noticed now that I am giving her a bit of welly is that there is quite a bit of poping happening on engine over run and the odd small backfire.
I have got a AI removal kit on order is this going to help with the popping and banging?
The weather here is Scotland is great just now so having heaps of fun with my new bike.

Cheers

Welcome to the group. The AI removal will help some but you will have to richen your idle air screws to about 3-3.25 turns out. Bike will start easier and warm up quicker also. Screws are D shaped and on the bottom of the carbs. I think jenks bolts has a tool to adjust. If not New Bonniville does. T1

Congrats on the new ride Tintin. Like T1 said a Little air screw tuning will get rid of those pesky pops. JCW

Guys,
Thanks for the advice. I have ordered the D screw tool today from mototwin.
When you say 3 turns out I take you mean screw it in until it stops then back it out 3 turns on both left and right sides.
Since i have got the Thruxton my wife reckons she's gone down another rung on the ladder.

Yes, screw in until it stops but just barely. and then screw back out. Would't let the wife get too far down on the list!-T1

Hi Guys again,
removed the A.I. last week and this eliminated the backfiring and 70% of the popping.
Tonight adjusted the idle air screw out 3 turns and took her for a good run up and down the hills and the popping has now gone.
Now the Tor's seem a bit quiet where do I get loader pipes?
Love the Thruxton much more ridable than the Moto Guzzi V11 Sport I had even though the Thruxton is down on power compared to the V11 I do believe I am quicker on the thruxton especially on the windy back roads.

Thanks again Guys.
TinTin
Now what to spend my money on next.(perhaps the wife!)

I've got Staintunes on mine and love the sound and get lots of compliments on it. Its a nice deep burble at idle and sounds fantastic taking off - however they're not too loud. If you want really loud you could check out some D&Ds - heard some the other day and they scream.

Welcome. Be careful, she will take over your life if you let her.

Tin Tin,

Welcome and congratulations on the bike. If the TORs are too mild for you look at the predators. I love mine. What kind of helmet is that on your bike? Do you like it? and where did you get it? :-g

juan44,
the helmet is A roof Diversion (Lemans colour scheme)
I bought it from my local dear here in Scotland but you can get them from www.designerhelmets.com and they ship world wide.
I really like the Roof its very light and pretty quiet, good visor doesn't mist up.
Only problem is getting a replacement visor there was a fire in the factory a while back and they are struggling to keep up with demand. I have had mine on order for a month now but have been told it should be in shortly.
I think I will keep my TORS on hopefully they will perk up a bit with age.
Thinking about changing the air filter/ airbox removal so better start saving the pennies for the winter projects.

Cheers TinTin
