I remember reading a while ago that someone put Buell foot pegs on their Thruxton. I cannot seem to find the thread. Can this be done? I like them better than the stock Triumph pegs -- plus they cost far less than the Triumph pegs.

The reason I ask is I put my bike down, and have to replace the right riders peg. Also, messed up my pipe on the right side and broke the mirror mount (told my wife it is now cheaper to replace the mirrors with bar ends).

NOTE: Wear protective gear, I had my jacket and helmet on, no gloves, just jeans and light shoes, 490lbs+ of bike landing on you is not fun -- this happened a week and a half ago and I can finally walk without a cane. Every place I had the gear on I am not hurt (we wont talk about my pride).

Also, watch out for other drivers -- I was turning and some kids passed me and brained me in the back of the head with a beer bottle -- yes it was intended on their part, they slowed down and waved then drove off. I turned my head instead of following through -- really embarrassing to say so, but that is why I crashed.

I have bought the pegs but have not yet modified them...it looks like they will be close...I mean to remove enough material to fit standard mounts...

Also, I will go the bushing route as opposed to modifying the bike...

Best place to buy Buell pegs...
http://www.surdykeharley-davidson.com/
HD & Buell parts 20% off list...Buell pn#N0521.AD (Right) and N0520.1AD (Left). Price $12.76 each.

This was original post and pix...
06 thrux reworks -Buell lightning foot pegs, about 1 inch lower than stock. Requires narrowing the peg and shimming the anchor pin to work.

dwc,

Thank you for posting the part numbers, picked them up today, and I should have them on this weekend -- if i dont have to many 'honey dos' this weekend.

Joe,

Thank you for the link.

And I just so happen to own a 10mm, so the bushing will work perfectly.

"Lowered footpegs on Thruxton" is the title to the thread in which I installed the Buell Lightning pegs on my Thruxton. I had the peg carriers machined .12" wider to accept the pegs...be cautious about taking that much material directly off the pegs themselves. They are not machined billet pieces and can break easily if bumped (have read of this happening on Buell Boards) and would definitely not attempt standing on the pegs to stretch your legs while riding if you've ground the pegs instead.

Shortly after installing the pegs on the Thruxton, I mounted a set on my Monster...made a huge difference on this bike. This time I did grind the pegs for fitment...only about .03" total needed to fit.

That sux 1138,

About 4 months ago a carload of kids did the same thing to a guy I ride with here in Ft Worth. The six other guys that were riding with him all started chasing down the car. A couple riders stopped and picked up rocks which were thrown and the others were kicking the doors and side panels. One guy took off his Davida and threw it at the windshield all while chasing these fools.

They finally pulled over and begged the guys to stop and said "We don't want no troubles".

I wonder if they learned their lesson?

Thrux-ton-up,

Thanks, I have been walking around now for 4 days without the cane, so things are getting better (I just don't heal as fast as I did when I was 20, hate getting older...). Hope to have the bike all repaired in about 2 weeks, have to catch up at work.

Stuie,

I think the kids that kids that hit me with the bottle probably didn't ride, so they don't realize what is involved in a crash, and more than likely even if they did, they would have still thrown it. Thanks for sharing the story, guess I will have to start riding with my friends and not alone.

Thank you both for your thoughts.
