I have put 500 miles on my newly purchased Thruxton, nice bike. MOst of those miles I did wearing a t-shirt and I would really like to protect myself a little more.

Would you all mind telling me what jacket you have that compliments the thruxton.

I have never in my life worn a leather jacket, so ideally I would purchase a jacket that is dual-use. Meaning I can wear it to a cafe or whilst riding. Also Ideally it would be light to very light leather so I could wear it in the summer. And vested insert would be an option for fall/winter.

Please post name of the brand and model. If you have pictures or links that would be great as well.

Thanks.

This is the one I have.
I had to wait about 4 months for a size 48......
(Apparently it is not just Americans who are fat..... :lollol: )

It was worth the wait, I actually enjoy wearing it & I'm not in a big hurry to yank it off when I get to my destination.
Because it looks so frickin nice.
Good luck!

I have a few...on the Thruxton I often wear the Triumph Raptor, and in cooler weather the Belstaff Trialmaster Excelsior. The BTE is the more clasically British of the two. Both are textile, not leather.

Being that the Thruxton is a Cafe Racer, you're supposed to do both at the same time. :-D

I have had the perforated Retro Jacket for over four years and its still great.

From the other T jackets I really like the Connaught Jacket as well.

Im also digging the Icon Retro Daytona Jacket. I have a couple of pieces of Icon gear and like them a lot.

I am a big fan of First Gear stuff. Very functional and good looking jackets. I particularly like the zippered torso vents, the sleeve vents, and the pull out neck liner that is part of the liner. Check out www.firstgear-usa.com. They are sold retail and online.

I am a fan of Bates Leathers (pricey but worth the investment)(Mine are well worn-crashed, repaired & purchased in the early 1970's) . They are very well made. First gear is also top notch. I do not wear styling and filing leather. Protection leather is what I want and use. Top Gear may not be in business any longer, but they make very high end "combat" leathers.
If you want leather to go to dinner with your wife or girl friend, go to Macy's or to any leather hawker on the Internet.
If you want armor leather, go with the manufactures that have been in the racing leather manufacturing business for several score of years. The protection of the high end products is worth every dollar spent. Crash once and tell me the difference . :-D . I have gone down several times over the past fifty years, broken bones, dislocated various body parts, and can still walk and talk and chew gum at the same time. Always buy the most quality leather armor that you can afford. I know, Preaching again.

Very good deals on last year's Triumph jackets can be had here:

Armored Rider

Located in Durham, NC. They bought up much of the old U.S. inventory.
