Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread...we up in the North East have been hit pretty hard with like a foot of rain...more to come as of this writing. On to the tank;
A number of you have asked about the paint..as in what kind?...I used RustOlium Enamel that comes in a spray can (he!!, what do you think I am? A professional...LOL?). Typical primer first, then I sprayed the silver stripes. After masking of the stripes, the field of yellow was applied. I masked of the top of the tank, then the glossy black. The knee indents were polished previously...Then I applied 6 coats of clear enamel. Lots of sanding between coats to mostly take care of overspray that dries before settling...this was frustrating. Not too much dust problems as I took the advice of a fellow RAT and watered everything down, plus it was raining all weekend to very little airborne particles to mess things up.
The design, after much thought, and looking at old Triumph photos, I kind of went with something on my own but with what I thought would represent what Triumph would do.
The old tank stays as this will be an extra that I can interchange when I want to. I'll pick up a cowl sometime, and do something with that as well. I still have to pick up a pingle and monza cap to finish it off.
Thanks all for the compliments, I thought maybe there would be some critics, and there may still be, so let me know maybe what you would have done. Dan
Oh...the Norton Girl....don't worry, I take a look at that little girl every day!!
