Kingmoham - spray bombs are Da Bomb! I've had a number of very nice paint jobs using spray bombs - comes down to preparation. It also helps that you are painting very small areas - compared to say your family sedan. Nice job. JCW

After doing this tank, I can't imagine a much larger sized job without going to professional equipment...cans are good like you said as long as the job is small and the time is put into prep work. The nozzles $uck and if I knew they had others I would have went that route. I should have asked TBSstunta or others, I simply did not think enough to ask. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer!! I went through lots of old cardboard to get a feel of paint spray, delivery, distance...etc..

Most of all I thought I learned something, and I know it can be done....by myself.

Rattlecans rock. My tank is the ONLY thing I haven`t painted with cans. I like the Duplicolor spray tips because of the fan type pattern as opposed to the cone shape of the others I`ve tried. That silver metalflake over a gloss black base with a few coats of clear,is really nice. Again, great job King. I was wondering where you could put a compressor in an 8x8' "garage". :-D

Yeah...this 8X8 shed of mine is really stretching my imagination in so far as where and how I locate and put stuff that I want handy. I have a compressor, but only a small one...enough to use to fill tires. As long as i can keep this Thrux out of the weather I am basically happy. My kids are getting annoyed though...I spend quite a bit of time in the shed after work and I think they're getting jealous. :-D

Before I was able to sneak a little bit of my wifes storage area to park my bike,I was relagated to a small shed also.My tools were ok in their box but I needed storage for other stuff. So I cut holes in the flooring, built some boxes from plywood, sprayed on some undercoating and suspended them under the shed, covered by the flooring.Plenty of space underneath for paints, waxes, etc, the bike lift and some take-offs/spare parts. :-D

Rodburner,

Great idea!! I've already made use of some of the spaces between wall studs, but the floor is ripe for storage!! Thanks!

Wow really?? Same guy? I asked for the gas cap, cowl & panels but I did not even get a reply. But...eventually something will show up on E-bay and I'll try to finish the package.

I agree...one look at all of the photo albums and you'll see each member trying to set their bikes up individually & uniquely...with limited resources too. HD has tons of aftermarket stuff out there, but it tuff with Triumphs. But that also breeds ingenuity, as you'll see lots of 'shade tree' engineering out there as well.
