I finally got my Thrux out onto the highway with the Dart on. Went out to an isolated secondary road and got the bike up to 180 KPH (111 MPH). The bike felt great! stable and there might have even been more if I would have pushed it further. The Dart was excellent. Leaning forward on the tank, I was able to get comfortably into the air pocket.

BTW, my girlfriend got her Buell up to 225 (140 MPH)!

I just changed to the 19t front sprocket, my sense of speed related to rpms is all thrown off now. I merged into traffic on the freeway, looked at the speedo and I was doing over 100!

Felt like what 80mph used to feel like. Longer legs for sure!

Yeah, I've been following the thread about the 19 tooth sprocket and am pretty well sold on it. I assume the one downside is a drop in off the line acceleration. I think it would be a good tradeoff for a higher top end for cruising speeds.

The other downside is that my ever faithful web supplier is now out of stock.

2 weeks! No issues as I am a patient customer. Yes, I could go elsewhere, but they have been good to me and I have already ordered.

PS - I too have had the Thruxton over the "Ton" with and without the Dart screen. Big differance for me at 6' and where the wind hits. Now seems to hit at the top of the helmet versus me.

I am thinking about the sprocket too but have some reservations about doing the work. But as for tucking and speeding, I got on the freeway yesterday and tucked in and got the bike to about 125! Felt great but then got scared and rolled off the throttle.

Well as a lesson to you speed demons, here is the rest of that story. I got off the freeway and rode home. As I turn off the highway onto my street I see a black and white on the side street. I make the turn (using law abiding hand signals) and get about a half a block before the lights come on.

He said they had a guy on the phone that said I was driving like a nut and wanted the cops to do something. He got my plate and called it in. The cop then ran the plate, got my address, and was sitting on that side street waiting for me!

He was completely cool about it , saying that he was out riding before work and we ended up talking about bikes and everything. But gave me a warning and said to watch my speed and riding.

The moral is, we guys and gals ride triumphs, and in my town it is a rare breed. So picking me out of the crowd wasnt real hard (Maybe I should get a HD ultra classic) so watch your backs and mirrors, and for gods sakes, slow down!!

That must have been quite a shock! Good thing you got a good cop.

The secondary highway we were riding on is very isolated, about 100 KM between towns. My big concern was coming around a corner and seeing a moose or a deer on the road.
