Hey all,

I just upped my countershaft sprocket to a 19 tooth this weekend and it has made my Thrux SO much nicer. Effectively, I dropped ~500rpm at a give speed in 5th. You could also look at as I gained ~10mph for the same rpm. I highly recommend this simple mod. I'll have a gas mileage report by the end of the week.

Also, I changed the stock tires out for Bridgestone 020's (which I really liked on a Sprint ST). The front is a 110/80/zr18 and the rear is a 150/70/zr17. I believe this is the same setup that Thrux-Ton-Up ran last year. Again I'm very happy.

Just thought I'd share...

Just did the same on the sprocket - I still can't get over what a change it made to the bike - feel like I have a six speed  JCW

I ride 2 up all the time with a 19 tooth on my thrux. I have never had a problem.

OK....sounds like a plan ! I think the stock sprocket is 17 teeth, so did you have to change the chain, or simply adjust the tension after the sprocket installation. Also, what work is involved with the sprocket change ? Any special tools required ? Taller gearing sounds great to me.

My Thrux (2004) had an 18 tooth as standard. The chain was already had the chain off due to the tire replacement, so adjustment and tensioning was kinda necessary.

Yep, Stormin' is correct. Front sprocket is 18 tooth. Previous questions remain the same though. My guess is 18 to 19 is a small enough change to utilise a standard chain length. Am I correct ?

Yes, the stock chain will fit the change from the stock 18 tooth to the 19 tooth sprocket without any problem.

Gas Mileage Update

I just ran my first tank after the sprocket mod, and I picked up at least 15 miles per tank. I used to hit reserve at 115 miles. Today I filled up at 130, and still hadn't hit reserve. Looks to be at least 5 mpg more based on average riding (aggresive commuting).

I just can't express how awesome this simple mod has been.
