Hi All,

I have a 2005 Thruxton that has an Igniter unit with a part number of T1292365. I have been assured by Triumph Australia that this is the correct part number for my model.

Problem? It hangs off the rev-limiter at 7500 rpm even though this is supposed to be an 8000 rpm unit. (I ran it up to max revs in 3rd gear so that I could see what the tacho was indicating.) Is this the general experience? I would have thought that it would run cleanly to 8000 rpm and then hang off the rev-limiter.

My Thrux runs clean all the way to 8000rpm AS INDICATED ON THE TACHO. I'd guess either you have the wrong igniter or your tacho is out or there is something else wrong with your engine which is preventing it from getting past 7500rpm.
Most likely your Tacho is out. There's no reason to expect it to be any more accurate than your speedo.

Pete.

I would go with Pete_Twizz's theory. May bike doesn't hit the rev limiter until an indicated 8300 on the tach. I have heard as many complaints about the tachs out of whack as the speedos. JCW

Yes they can. You just have to find a shop (and instrument shop) in your area. Steve.
