Posted some new pics. of my Thruxton here ( My album ), showing some advance in getting the classic "Thruxton" look of the sixties. Indicators should of course be removed, but I use the bike a lot, and safety first. Changing them to Lucas repro is a fair compromise. As you see on the pictures, the thing really starting to look out of place on the bike is the exhaust cans. They're to fat and chubby. I think I will buy the Norman Hyde TX cans which resembles the original Thruxton cans from the sixties. Next step would be a fairing, either half or full, I don't know yet. But if full, I would have to fit those swept back exhaust pipes from Mototwin to get the fairing narrow enough in front.

Lookin good.

I think its funny that you find the pipes are too fat but you put on those big Lucas-style indicators.

Regardless its a fine bike and I've always liked this pic of yours:

Hmm.. ja, I see it now when you made me aware of it... Maybe I have to look for some indicators of a more slender type.

For small indicators try DINKYWINKAZ. I have these in black on my Thruxton and they re almost invisible until lit and then they are pretty bright. Only modification is to wiring (cut and solder). These are sold in many local bike shops and are inexpensive. Try Motrax site for pictures.

If you end up using LED indicators you may find that they blink too fast. If so you will need to wire in a load equilizer, basically a resistor. Didn't mean to make you second-guess your blinker choice, and I wasn't saying they were too large. I just found the contradiction to be humerous.

Dont change the pipes! I think they look great. I personally dont like big turn indicators on my bike. I think they make it look like a big bug. I have streamlined by taking all the excessively large items off and put smaller or low profile items on my Tbird. Nice pics!

How about a side shot of that DLB pipe king? They look pretty good, but it's hard to tell.

Hi there.
just finished with the mods for this year ( yea, right ) and ready for the road. Got all the goodies from Newthruxton.
Napoleon Bar ends ( had to make some spacers here to stop the brake lever from hitting the bar ends ) Rear fender removal, Bright front light, front fender.
Really happy with the smaller indicators and the black front fender. Recon I will go for the Airbox removal next year.
My Thruxton
