What's up with the baffle-less Thrux pipes? Do they sound like straight pipes? When I pulled the cans off and fired the bike up I was not impressed witht he sound or tone of the exhaust so if it sounds like that then I'm oging to have to leave a baffle in to cut the harsh-ness out of it.

I was inspired by your pics of the progress so looks like I'm going to be biting your style here shortly.

What size hole saw did you use to cut out the back?

Joe,I spent two days trying to get a pleasing mounting angle, even cut off all the brackets, but couldn`t do it with the footpeg mounts on the bike, and I`m not ready to cut the frame yet.So, I might section them out and make some "half-mile" megs out of them. They are bigtime loud. Too loud.As for the ends,no hole saw.Just an 80grit sanding disc and angle grinder. The whole end of the pipe is just a thin metal cap with the outlet tube attatched.30 seconds and you get a BIG hole.I`d just drill holes thru the fixed baffles once the end was removed..

Perfect.....how many baffles are in there? I am assuming three.

I'm thinking I'll take out the end one and maybe drill holes in the middle baffle and if it's still not loud enough then I'll take out the middle baffle. I want it loud but without the harsh and still maintain some back pressure.

Joe,after grinding off the end,[just at the edges is fine],pull out a little packing and the short tube.

Under that is a metal baffle that is the inside end of the packed inner pipe.I cut the end off with my welding torch[not my cutting torch].This gets you inside the can. There is a solid baffle with an offset tube next in line. You can drill holes and check the sound.I pounded it in,broke the tack welds, shook the baffle and tube to the end off the pipe and used my torch to cut it into small removable pieces. This puts you 12" inside the can.

Under this baffle is another and a cactus looking tube.I removed those the same way,but in hindsite, drilling a couple 1/2" holes at this time would have been enough. At this point my guess is you would be equal to a D&D with a mechanical baffle that doesn`t need repacking.

OK, so I ground down the end and got inside. I don't have an o/a torch setup so I driled holes in the first baffle so I could rip it out. Honed out the inside of that with a die grinder to about where you have it.

Now I got to figure out what I'm going to do with the middle baffle. Probably going to drill some 1/2 holes in it and do a sound check .....if it's still lacking I'm going to have to get creative and find a way to get that puppy out with out a torch. Thanks for you input earlier....really helped.

Joe,I think you will be pretty happy with maybe 2 additional 1/2" holes. All the sound comes thru those tubes.By doubling or tripling the outlet area you should get a nice tone. Also by drilling instead of removing the baffles, you can tune or adjust the sound by plugging the holes with screws. :-D

Ok, I'm seriously thinking of taking the grinder to my pipes, but I'm a bit afraid the edges will start rusting..... :???:

Peke - no worries I'm pretty sure they are stainless, I don't have mine anymore to check, but I'm 99% sure I remember correctly. Take a magnet to them and see. JCW

Sooooooo....drilled 11 1/2 holes in the center baffle and 4 in the first baffle. Sounds good but still needs some help. Didn't dyno but it feels like it pulls harder.

Going to drill some more holes this weekend and see what happens. Maybe I'll find some cash in there...

For you cheap dudes like me...keep posting "do it yourself"stuff.
