Received my renewal info from Progressive today for my 2005 Thruxton. Last year it cost me $264, this year my premium went up to $487. No accidents, no tickets, no claims. Had an agonizing conversation with an incompetent customer service person - finally determined that they changed the cycle's classification from a cruiser to a street/sport. Had them look up the Bonnevile T-100 which they have classified as a 'regular' - trying to get them to understand it is essentially the same machine. On the phone right now trying to get them to change the classification but i am not very optomistic.

Anyone have similar issues? Anyone have another insurance company they can recommend?

Other Motorcycle: Can there be room for 2?
Try Foremost. had the same issue with my TBS with several companies. They didn't care. They are a fairly large underwriter for several other brands of motorcycle insurance. SIGNIFICANT saving$.

Progressive has my Thruxton listed as Triumph Other Classic Model. They didn't have the Thruxton listed when I bought the insurance. They actually charge me more for the Bonnie than the Thrux.

I added Thruxton to existing policy with Progressive (with 250/500/100 coverage) at cost of $210 per year.

I had Progressive at a low rate last year (47 year old, good record, many years riding), and when I received my yearly renewal they jacked it up to almost $400 from $180! Needless to say I called and their answer was that they charged me too little the previous year (though it was a quoted amount) and this is the "actual" rate. I went with Gieco this year...

I have been hearing this around a few places now. It seems Progressive is on the rise.

You guys need to be persistant about this stuff with progressive. They need to realize it is not a sport bike. Stay on the line with them until they change it to a cruiser. I stayed on the line for nearly an hour talking to all kinds of different managers. Explain to them that there are NO plastics on the bike.

Try GEICO, I just switched from Foremost & saved a couple hundred bucks on my 2 bikes.

Your complaining about $464 for insurance try $603 from progressive. Thats what they charged me for the year on my thruxton. Progressive told me that they don.t have a partial year plan here in Ohio. I'm lucky to get 5 months out of the bike here in Ohio.

Same here...
I just relocated from FL to WA, and it jumped to 450 or so per year. Will call and check the classification fo sure.
Funny thing is they quoted me $1380 for a Daytona 675 and
$550 for a 2005 SPEED TRIPLE. Go figure.
