I have a thruxton but I want new pipes to give it more sound with a bite instead of a sewing machine. I've looked at d. ds and sprint pipes and mototwin off of bella corse. I like the black ds but want they want for them is ridiculous so I am leaning toword the mototwin. What should I do?

I just had British Customs Predators put on this week and I couldn't be happier. Goodbye sewing machine, hello bite!

Check out the D&Ds on www.newbonneville.com
I love them and they are easy to repack to change the sound unlike most of the others. I also dyno'ed them against the TORs that were on the bike when I got it and gained 3hp over them.

I was given a set of stock Thrux mufflers by Stevent after he sold his bike. I`ve been pleased with the sound of my stock Bonnie pipes with the bafflectomy,so I decided to try it on the Thrux pipes too.Was able to remove the end of the muffler, the short tube that extends into the first chamber, and the first of the internal baffles and thru tube. This pic isn`t the best, but the baffle shown is a full 12" in from the end opening. That remaining thru tube and baffle are all thats left to make it an open can.I`ll do the other pipe after work tomorrow, and try mounting them up later this week.

go for the predators, they sound great. The DandDs rust out and need repacking. The Predators are stainless and need no packing.

Hey rodburner
I'm looking for some aftermarket pipes and have seen a few stock Thrux pipes for cheap, how do you adapt the Thrux pipes to a Black Bonnie? Also I'd love to hear how the bafflectomy sounds compared to Mototwins or Pred. which are a toss-up right now.

Tyler,I don`t know if there are adapting problems. My understanding is they should fit right on. Also,I haven`t tried them on the bike yet,so don`t know how they sound. My stock Bonnie/modded pipes are louder than TORs,so these ought to be hella loud since I removed ALL the baffles last night. They are hollow cans with a nice Triumph EPA stamp on them now. I put a pic in the tupperwarectomy thread. :-D Steve

My understanding is that they don't match up exactly, but some people have been able to make them work. I used to think the Thrux's didn't have a "kink" in the header pipes. That's not true, they do have a "kink", but it's further back to clear the rear sets. That's why they may not mount up without a little "effort".

Thanks Mark. I`m planning to just try the hollow cans.It was just a no cost experiment anyway. [actually did one of them a work yesterday,so got paid to do it. :-D ] If I do keep them,I`ll cut and refit the inlet. Steve
