So the Predators sweep upward very nicely; the TORs are similar.

It’s raining in southern Cal today and probably tomorrow. Not wanting to wait for a sunny day to ride (I’m from WA, a little rain doesn’t scare me) I’m planning on riding later tonight & commute to work tomorrow.

Question; with the upswept pipes, there’s nothing to keep rain from falling into the pipes when parked. I’d guess that while running, the combination of escaping gasses and heat keeps water out. But what happens when parked? How do we keep rain from filling our pipes and getting into our engine? :

Never gave it much thought before today (its really coming down at the moment).

Talk among yourselves

I spose if you leave it out all day in the rain, it'll collect some water.. enough to fill the pipes up ?? that I don't know. You could always make some covers to place over the ends while parked and use some aviation style "Remove Before Flight" lanyards on them.. would look cool!!

Anything short of a flood will get blown out when you light 'er up... and dried out before you get home.

My bike sat out in the rain for 3-4 hours (very hard rain at that) at last summers British in the Blue Ridge ralley with no problems to the pipes or K&N pod filters. My seat was wet for DAYS though. JCW

The opening in the muffler outlet is lower than the headpipe connection to the head. I would imagine that you would have to get a couple of feet of rain to even start to fill up the exhaust system. my bike lives outside and I have never had a problem with rain.

What?! Everyone knows, "it never rains in California." Look up, maybe it's just a massive flock of birds with urinary infections. It which case, what do we do to keep bird piss out of our pipes?

Thanks guys-

Silly question, I know...

So, no problem with the rain issue... but the bird pee- that might be another issue all together :-D

California is a funny place- everyone complains when it rains, then complain when there is a drought. Never happy these guys

The only thing that I've ever noticed on my Thruxton (equipped with Predators) from over-exposure to the rain is a foggy tachometer. That went away after a nice bake in the sun the next day.

FYI, when I took my bike in for an unrelated warranty issue (discolouring under to clear coat on the crack case sides) my dealer noticed fogging in my speedometer. That was also replaced under warranty. You might want to check that out...

Jazzman. The flock of birds with bladder infections is a sure sign of air deployable issues. BUT was a laser guidence system involved? This was self contained for sure.

DTFR, Go to the local ACE or TRUE VALUE, and purchase some sink stoppers. Make sure they have the 15.5 degree pitch. These should also have the landyard ring, so you can attach the .060 diameter nylon cord, 1.45 meters long between the pair. This facilitates removal with ease. The execution is called Yanking Your Lanyard :-D Absolutely do not use CORK. The Cork will swell with the rain and will stick to the PEA shooters inside diameter. This will cause you to rev the cold motor to 14k rpm to dislodge the swollen members of cork. Have you hugged your Motorcycle to day?

Thanks for the advice Spyder94,

And, as a matter of fact, I have hugged my bike today I was luck enough to cut out of work early and go for a spin. What a way to start the weekend :-D
