Has anyone experienced a leak in their stock exhaust at the junction point in the crossover tube? I have replaced the stock exhaust with emgo adapters and a set of generic cocktail shaker mufflers (NOS from the '70s), which are pretty loud. Despite the loud exhaust, I could hear a leak from the crossover and could see soot at the clamp from the leak. The leak is fixed now, but just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Also, I had been lazy about pulling the air injection off, and put 4000 pipe blueing miles on the bike before I finally removed the AI. As I was fixing the exhaust leak, I decided to REALLY polish the pipes, and managed to get rid of most of the blue. I figured it would be worth the effort, since the cause for the blueing (AI) was removed. Well I was wrong. All my elbow grease was a waste; after 15 min the pipes are blue again. So is it that once you've got the blues, you've always got the blues?

05 Truxter,

You might try this product... I haven't yet since I've not removed my AI yet...

It might be worth the $11 or $12 bucks... :-D

I can vouch for Bluejob. It is the only product that has worked from me but it takes a lot of elbow grease and time. My bluing has not returned although I have only put about 400 miles on since my AI mod and latest polishing. Good luck.

I also had a leak in my stock exhaust at the junction. I didn't notice it until I fired it up in cold weather and could see the exhaust coming out. I just loosened the clamps, shifted them a bit and re-tightened.

Seemed to do the job, although I havn't check to see how well they held up, this was a few weeks ago and its warmed up quite a bit since then.

Hey all - thanks for the suggestions. I did actually use the product of which you speak, bluejob. I removed the blue, but as I mentioned the blue is back after only 15 minutes. Maybe my bike is running too lean and therefore running hot? I guess I'll take it into the dealer, since I'm no carb tuner...
